Subject: Where's the clothes for Handspan's Elf for Stephanie?

logansfury ( ) posted Sat, 28 August 2004 at 4:13 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 1:10 PM

Hello Everyone, I understand that at least three artists at PoserWorld had already made clothing for Handspan Studios Elf for Stephanie 1 character. I went to the poserworld store and did several searches but came up with zilch. Would anyone have a url to any items of clothing for this character? Ive played with Tailor, but I think my target garment is the wrong one to work with :( Any help appreciated, if anyone knows of any free clothes for this character or stephanie 1 id love to get URLs to those as well so I can keep experimenting with Tailor. Thanks for Reading, Logan

They may not have made them for the Elf character... but made clothes for Stephanie.

We (PoserWorld) do have some clothes made for stephanie, but none made to fit the Elf morphs by handspan. In fact we generally stick to 'stock' morphs when we include morphs in clothing figures. But, if you have Tailor, Elf and the clothing it should be relatively easy to fit the clothing to elf. Just make sure to load Elf as your base figure and Tailor the clothing to the bodymorph amde by Handspan, and generally Tailor does a good job. Also remember that much Vicky1 clothing fits steph 1, so you might want to try Tailoring one or two of those as well Lyrra

Good Morning,

My bad Carolly, I misunderstood what you wrote in the last thread. I was looking specifically for Handspan Elf items at PoserWorld and when I searched "Elf for Stephanie" and "EnglishBob" at the PoserWorld marketplace I got zero returns. Sounds like I shoulda just searched for Steph 1!

Im pretty sure I made a poor choice of garment for my first run with Tailor. I caught in the Steph readme that she does take a lot of V1 clothes, so I elected to start Tailoring with the V1 conforming fantasy suit, but I think now that that garment is too unique with its existing part changing morphs. I did get Elf morphs into it with Tailor, but the top and skirt are locked together somehow and this just isnt the right item to work with I spose. Kind of a shame from my perspective cause my initial work with this produced a char outfit I really really liked. Soon as I bring the cam closer though its too obvious that the skirt is floating on her, not being worn. Sigh.

Ah well. Ive gotten some sleep so ill give a fresh start to Tailor and the PW site search. Hopefully I can find some kind of outfit to settle on so I can use this char in my renders.

all these years trying to get clothes off women and now I cant get this poor girl dressed when I actually WANT to.......

I love Handspan Studios characters to pieces, but IME, it's not easy to dress them. The body morphs are so different that it's not easy to Tailor clothes to fit them. I'd use them a heck of a lot more if there were clothes for them. If you've got P5, dynamic clothing is an option. Otherwise...you could use the HSS head on a standard body. Alternately, you could use very skimpy clothing, which tends to be easier to fit. Pasties and a thong are easier to adjust than a shirt or a dress.

Hello randym77,

Yep ive got P5, and ive never touched the dynamic clothing option in there. Spose ill have to give it a shot. All im really wanting out of all this grief is a leathern halter top and skirt. Heck hang on, ill make a quick render of what I want.....

There. See its just the halterish top and short skirt from daz viki changning fantasy suit, but for use with Elf it is just coming into my world and cutting down ALL my trees.

For this character, while I like her to look sexy, I dont want her to look like an exotic dancer. How can you put an arrow in something while its trying to stick an ancient copper coin in your knickers?

I had some success working with two of these items. I imported one, made invisible everything but the top, then brought in a second vcfs and made invisible everything but the skirt. Better but not quite perfect :(

Any good tutorials for Dynamic clothing out there?

Logan

PoserFashion.net has some very good dynamic clothing tutorials. Including one on how to fit dynamic clothes to other characters. PhilC.net has a tutorial on how to make conforming clothing into dynamic. Sdvl at Planit3d.com has some nice free dynamic clothing for V3 that I've been able to use with other characters. Including a short top and skirt that kind of look like that.

MW & P4 Period Gown - ps_ac062b Fhis is the Period Gown I'd mentioned (fits Vicky and Posette, but no morphs... it is a nice dress, though, and easy to use). What you can see from the picture is how a regular dress can be turned into a "woodland/elf/maid marion" outfit with a bit of thought: Find a dress which works. Make the skirt invisible or shorten it with a transmap. Make a vest or laced-bodice texture and a transmap for the sleeves. Voila! If you have a nice scrap of suede, you can scan it to make the texture for boots and vest. The hard part is getting the morphs to fit such a special character, so you might be better off seeing who else has used her (Gallery pics) and what outfits they used. Even if it was a prom dress or renassance gown, you can adapt it for adventuring. After all... isn't that what folks in dungeon games do with the booty? The roughest barbarian might sleep in silk. I don't have Elf, but I have many other HSS characters. IME, it's not easy to fit a dress to them. The problem is that Ingrid completely reshapes the ribcage, hips, and breasts. Generally, she makes the character more slender, and lifts the breasts so they look more perky and youthful. It looks lovely. But when you try to put a dress on them, the boobs pop out, because they're so high. The standard breast morphs don't help, because they make the dress bigger in the wrong places.

With the Tailor, you can get dresses to cover them, but they end up not looking that great. At least, when I do it. The morphs are so extreme the dress mesh can't take it, and ends up looking stretched in some places, wrinkled in others.
