Honestly, I haven't had a lick of trouble with any of the stuff I've gotten from DAZ. The only thing I can think of that doesn't seem to work right is: I got the hi-res textures for Micahel 3, and when I apply the bump map MAT pose, the bump map node in the shader doesn't seem to want to get connected, and I have to do that manually. Other than that, I really haven't had any trouble at all. Jack
The bump maps on the MAT poses never work properly and you have to manually plug the bump into the correct channel (and set the strength down!). Also, some of the recent conforming, morphing clothes for The GIRL were very troublesome in P5. Most other conforming, morphing clothes work all right, though (just CTRL-C on the body of the figure and then CTRL-V on the body of the clothing to past the figure's settings, voila). bonni

Actually, I think the advisory I read on their website (which appears to be gone) said that they test their products fully on Poser 4 but not on Poser 5. Also, I found this tidbit on the Daz3D forum-- the Poser 5 face room is not compatable with Daz3D figures. Of course, the Daz3d faces are so fabulous that they don't really need the face room. I saw a free prop out there (which I promptly downloaded) which is a skull cap for Daz characters. I think it's a method of allowing them to grow hair in Poser 5. Also, I think I read that dynamic clothes don't work on Daz characters, though it might just be a misunderstanding. BTW, I was just trying to figure out the P5 Materials room. WTF???
Everything works pretty well in P5. P5 fixed the cross talk issue, that's why some clothes work better than others, miner tweeking fixs that. The face room is the only thing that won't work on Daz figures,as already stated. You can grow hair any where with the grouping tool and hair room. Most of the bad things you hear about P5 are old issue's that have been mostly fixed. Daz doesn't support P5, hey, they have Daz Studio, but they do try to help.
For the record, a lot of merchants are starting to really work at getting stuff tested in P5, making sure MAT poses work, etc. DAZ may never do it for their own original products, but a lot of merchants have and will, even some who were pretty stubborn about it in the past. Certainly, no merchant likes having products returned. It costs them money, time, and, maybe most importantly, reputation. ;-) bonni

The Figures themselves will work without any problems, it's when you start on the morphs & mats that the problems (small problems) start to appear. To start with it's best not to install any new content into the main Poser5 runtime, BUT the Injection poses that come with the 3rd gen figures (v3/m3/s3/freak) have to have the morphs themselves installed there or they can't find them. Dynamics will work on all figures wherever they come from if you can ever work out how to use it (I've had P5 since it came out & I still can't get it right. The Materials room is where Daz really falls down as they totally ignore it in favour of the old P4/PP style of texture settings, it's far more powerful than the old one & gives us all far more control over how the figures will look when rendered, which is a very good thing :)

I use only P5 these days, and for the most part, DAZ's products can be made to work. It just takes some effort. The MAT poses all have to be fixed. Many of the hair textures don't render correctly in P5, and must be tweaked in Photoshop. Conforming clothes can be a problem. In some cases, it's frustrating that they don't use dynamic cloth, or at least include dynamic cloth versions of their products. But I've only returned a product once for lack of P5 compatibility. (It was a MAT writing utility that could not handle the Material Room.)If you want to experiment with DAZ characters, I recommend starting at the above link. It explains why the DAZ MAT files don't work correctly with P5, and how to fix them. It also includes free P5 MAT files for the V3 high res textures which you can download. (The link to MAT Pose Writer is broken, but you can find it by going to Netherworks' site and looking around.)
I have many Daz products, and have had very little if ny problems with any of them. All lady Little Fix's koshini stuff works fine. The main real issue is using conforming clothing that relys on P4's crosstalk feature/bug, which was fixed in P5. Copying the pose and jcm settings seems the bew solution to the lack of crosstalk in P5, but you will find that same problem with anything with conforming clothing at Rendo, Poser Pros, Rdna, ect. Materials will work ok, but can be made to look better in P5, because of the additional features. Everything I have over at Daz (and poser pros) works fine in P5, because that is what I develop on. I "dumb down" my material settings and include P4 and PP mats for people who cannot benefit from P5 enhancements.

Oh! I forgot.. you can converty anything with P4 or PP mats to P5 VERY eaaily.. get a copy of Mat Pose Edit (free) whoch can be found in freestuff here or over at Poser Pros.. it'll convert the mats for you, and it'll even copy the thumbnails as well.

I have a very limited knowledge base with Poser 4 and I thouroughly enjoyed my platenum membership with Daz3d due to all the wonderful things I could buy and had very little problems with getting my purchases to work properly in poser 4. I basically create figures, pose them and save the render to finish up in psp7. My delima now is...I was so excited about my new Poser 5, but have found that many, many products that I have purchased do not work at all. V3 model works fine, but trying to apply any morph targets from the library do not. I can inject them and then manually manipulate them...which is a pain. I want to purchase some more poses and characters, but am afraid they will not work properly either. I did a search for poser 5 items only with very little offerings. Some things were created for poser 4 and above. Does that mean they were also tested in poser 5 and are truly compatible? Please help! I am about to trash poser 5 and go back to my old tried and true program.
If the delta folders (the !DAZ folder that gets added to your library and similar) are put into the main P5 runtime, then INJ poses should work from any other runtime. I've never had any problem with it.
Most MAT poses work OK, except that you have to move the bump map from the Gradient Bump channel to the real Bump channel in the material room. The free Mat Pose Edit program (I'm sure someone can give a link) can batch convert MAT poses (even entire folders of them) so that you don't need to do this.
The only problems I've had with things not working at all are joint-controlled morphs that depend on crosstalk (have to adjust by hand) and some complex hair models that won't render (have to jump through hoops to fix those.)

I just got Poser 5, and I'm eager to experiment with my Daz3D figures in it.
A while ago I read somewhere that Daz3D figures work for most Poser 5 options. But I don't remember the exceptions. And for some reason on DAZ3D's Support FAQ page, the question about compatability with Poser 5 is a deactivated link. I recall reading on their website somewhere just days ago that they strongly recommend the use of Poser 4 for their products.
I love Daz3D. I'm beginning to love Poser 5. What should I do to make it a happy marriage?
