What I call doing extensive postwork on promo images is not actually 'deceptive advetisement' but misleading. There are many merchants who do all the promo's strickly in Poser, either 4 or 5. Thoses are the one's I'm apt to buy from. What I see on the promo is what I should be able to get on my system with no fuss or muss. Just one of my many pet peeves. /rant off.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

The only post work that I do in my MP items is text, all renders are straight from poser

This is part of why we have the Product Showcase Forum and Product Showcase Gallery. The Marketplace images are not supposed to have postwork or special lights. Showcased images show what the product looks like in the hands of an artist... so dramatic lighting and postwork and painted details are fine.

I certainly agree with no postwork, but decent lighting should not be a crime.

About lighting, If the character pack or product comes with light sets, I think the light sets which are in the product should be used. If the light set used with the render is another merchants light set, I think it would be very kind to adress it. Best regards, Umut B. Aydin (umutov)

I agree with the lighting, it certainly can bring out detail. It would be nice though that some where in the product description it was noted how the lights were set up to achieve the effect.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

MP renders should be done with white lights or default lights, unless light sets are part of the package. If a vendor gets too arty with the lighting, the potential buyer has no way of telling if the seams match or if there are artifacts or if the skin textures blend. There are 5 pop-ups in this linked product... at least I *think* there is a product in the murk. ;^) I can't tell for sure what the colors ARE, much less where they match across seams! This is great for setting a mysterious mood... but not for showing the customer the quality of the set. I have no objection to dramatic lights, hellish lights, murky swamplights, backlights with glowing edges. None at all. But that belongs in the Showcase with the artistic presentations, and the pure white light belongs in the MarketPlace. Carolly

I will bring this up in the merchant forum as well I do think its time we start a Related Products part to all mp stuff I am voting yes on the matter and if you want it post a yes as well might stop all the pm;s asking what you used lol We will never get it if we dont ask for it so i ask for it " A can we plez have a Related Products part to all mp stuff" Related Products "if you used some ones stuff to make your promo lights, poses, hair, clothing, props ect ect SAY IT" Post work is post work if you paint the hair lighten the image use a overlay, fade, blur,or any filter or plugin its all STILL POSTWORK!! your sweet NAGGG

I like the idea of related products. Links too. Poses used by: Link to product Hair by: Link to product However, what if you use something that is not available in the store? That could be a product found elsewhere, freestuff, or a custom item (like light sets) that are simply not available at all.

Letterworks ( ) posted Sat, 04 September 2004 at 6:09 PM

I think that at least one render of the three allowed should be with either GI lighting or default lighting. This should br the case even if the set comes with a lighting pak. I tend to like to see models untextured and in GI when I buy them for other software, since it lets you really see what you have to work with, why not the same curtousy in Poser products. mike

momcat i like the link thing and maybe a part were you can add custom light, clothing, by yourself not in stores ect ect imo i think this will help sales coz you have some ppl that can kik azz on a render and may not sell as many coz ppl think its postworked to hell and back but if the Related Products part is there the buyer might think again and buy it knowing that it was not a postwork job but a real render JMO Bobbie
