For all those who have been inquiring, Thanks. As you can see it's finally done. It will be up at my site by Thanksgiving. :) Anton

WOW, this looks fantastic. Looks just like the RPG fantasy dragons. With a killer texture, this would be awesome. Great work Anton.

JeffH ( ) posted Tue, 14 November 2000 at 9:26 PM

RPG? What most people want is a "Pern" Dragon ;-)

dunga ( ) posted Tue, 14 November 2000 at 11:33 PM

AWESOME!!!!!!!! anton, please --do not sell it....

Styxx ( ) posted Tue, 14 November 2000 at 11:55 PM

I agree with Jeff! I have tried to do a pernesse dragon many times and failed.. I would love to see a pern dragon!

JAFO ( ) posted Wed, 15 November 2000 at 5:52 AM

lookin good Anton

Y'all have a great day.

ScottA ( ) posted Wed, 15 November 2000 at 8:24 AM

Nice work as always Anton. What's a pern dragon? ScottA

Dmentia ( ) posted Wed, 15 November 2000 at 10:22 AM

Anton that dragon is GORGEOUS!!! I prefer them to be a tad bit heavier in the rear section, and a tiny bit more horse than dino in the face area, but over all that's the best dragon I've seen including Zygotes...PLEASE OH PLEASE LET ME TEXTURE THAT BEAST! A pern dragon is a copyrighted character, and even giving it away for free can get you into bookoos of trouble...there is a 2d artist who nearlly took her life after getting jumped by the people who own the copyrights to the pern dragons...its a very sad story :(...and now I can't even remember the name of the woman who wrote the books...but it somewhat resembles a terradactyl(sp?) moreso than a dragon imho... I'd like to see a nice Eastern Dragon...

bloodsong ( ) posted Wed, 15 November 2000 at 10:48 AM

heyas; anne mccaffrey wrote the pern series, and michael whelan illustrated the book covers, giving them their distinctive 'look.' anton: fantastic job! :)

dunga ( ) posted Wed, 15 November 2000 at 11:44 AM

guys, what is PERN DRAGON?

Dmentia ( ) posted Wed, 15 November 2000 at 11:53 AM

go to amazon.com and do a search for pern, the pern dragon is a type of dragon based on Anne McCaffrey's (thanks bloodsong) books...and Michael Whelan's (thanks again bloodsong) art... It's a genetically engineered lizard...looks like a raptor with wings or something...kinda bonier than a raptor around the face, has more humanistic type hands and feet, no ears, no fins or spines, personally I think they are fairlly ugly, and not at all dragon like, but thats just me, I prefer the RPG dragons...they don't have scales, just leathery flesh no belly plating, no distinguishing marks at all really though they do have really big spooky looking eyes...come in a few colors white being rare, gold being the most powerful, blues, browns, bronzes, and greens being other variations...Those books were the first I ever read, and actually inspired my first dragon art, but then I found the Western Dragon and fell in love...The Eastern dragon I never really liked at all until recentlly...But a search on the internet will deffinatelly bring up more than you ever cared to know about pern dragons...

Dragons are tough because each person wants or likes something different. Some people like fat dragons(hard to pose), some like smooth(hard to sell), some prefer pern(I hear lawyers). I tried to go the route of TSR (Dueons&Dragons). It is constomizable. You can remove the spines and fins. The wings are a seperate figure too. Flying, flightless, smooth or ribbed. I tried to make sure everyone(or most) would be happy. Ps: The wings can be used on People too.

JeffH ( ) posted Wed, 15 November 2000 at 10:16 PM

You did a great job. -JH. PS: The word "Pern" needn't ever be used; that would be lawyer safe ;-)

Anton, this wonderfull dragon isn't only a "character" in Poser terms, it also has character! It's clearly different to Zygote's dragon (which is a very good one, too) and certainly will be a perfect addition. Your one reminds me of the dragon from "Dragonheart", and I wouldn't be suprise if it speaks with Sean Connery's voice! ;-) IMO, the face could have a little more spikes and horns. Please, put in as many morph targets as you see fit! (Has anybody seen Traveller lately? Zygote's drag could need some MT's too. :) Dmentia did a few good ones, but that's not enough.) Dmentia, I'm looking forward to your textures for this critter. And yes, a Chinese style dragon would be great, too! - wal

ookami ( ) posted Thu, 16 November 2000 at 8:10 AM

SUPERB WORK! YOU DA MAN! I agree with the above... he sort of reminds me of Dragonheart too... name him Draco!

bloodsong ( ) posted Thu, 16 November 2000 at 8:21 AM

heyas; anton did an eastern dragon, didn't you, anton? what happened to that one?

Crescent ( ) posted Thu, 16 November 2000 at 9:53 AM

Ung, guh guh! Pardon me while I pick my jaw up off the floor! This is just the sort of dragon I've been looking for! It is utterly spectacular! If you post this by Thanksgiving, I know what I'll be celebrating next Thursday - to hell with the turkey!

TBKoen ( ) posted Thu, 16 November 2000 at 3:18 PM

How much is it gonna cost me this time?;) Kick ass model. Skinny, Fat, ugly, smooth, dumb, doesn't matter to me. As long if it looks good. And this one does! Could you please post the template here for Dmentia and me? Would like to make a kick ass texture for U! Koen.

It will be $20. I did do a Chinese Dragon, but just when I was finishing it decided to redo the body. It will reappear soon. I love DragonHeart. It had it's influence. I sent the CD tonight. It will be up this weekend.

Anton_Kisiel ( ) posted Thu, 16 November 2000 at 10:29 PM

Yoy're probably wondering whay happened to the wings in the above picture. The wings are a seperate included figure. That's the secret to complex creatures like dragons. The wings can be used on any other figure. The concept is the same as conforming clothes. Even The Raptor and the Dog.

Crescent ( ) posted Fri, 17 November 2000 at 2:22 PM

The sleeping dragon is just darling. Let me know when I can throw money at you and where to throw it to.

Anton_Kisiel ( ) posted Fri, 17 November 2000 at 10:52 PM

It will probaby be up Sunday at the "My Site" at the top of this thread. :)You'll love it.

Boni ( ) posted Sat, 18 November 2000 at 1:55 PM

Quick question. I need models that have no copyright restrictions (refering to rendered images only)on them. By purchasing your dragon Anton, will I be able to use it in commercial artwork? By the way, it's the best dragon I've ever seen. Boni

Boni, Yes you are are free to use the images any way you like. The only restrictions are on any distribution or sale regarding the mesh

Boni ( ) posted Sun, 19 November 2000 at 8:50 PM

Thank you Anton, it may be a little while before I can get your wonderful model. (Vicki and Michael are on my list first) but It is the best dragon I've seen. I understand about the mesh distribution having followed the "boards" for a couple of years. I respect other artists' work. Thanks again for the information. :) Boni
