Subject: Unable to view actors on stage

Hi everyone Ive been using Poser since version 1 and over the years Ive procured a tidy little collection of Poser resources and .obj files many which Ive never used. I was rummaging through some old CD backups and came across a few of these items. Three in particular, I thought I might be able to use in a future project and decided to bring out of storage. One was a bear another was a jackrabbit and the last was female figure. All three are Poser objects replete with rsr, cr2, obj files, templates and texture maps. Of the three Posable objects only the bear is viewable on the Poser display. The other two, the rabbit and the figure are not visible anywhere on the stage. They both show as figure objects and have body parts. Their textures show up in the material room and can be changed. They have no transparency maps. I can view the obj files in Deep Explorer and their cr2 files are readable. I can bring up their groups and maps in UVMapper. Ive flipped their normals around and still they cannot be viewed in Poser (using Poser 4 for these). Is someone here familiar with this problem and what needs to be done to remedy the situation? Ive reached my wits end with this but Im inquisitive enough to want to know whats causing it before I decide to dump them. Thanks in advance.

It sounds like the Cr2 files are not finding the Obj files when you load the figures. Open the Cr2 file in notepad or something similar and look for the lines that point to the location of the Obj file. e.g: figureResFile :Runtime:Geometries:lmstuff:VickiStuff:LM_Outlander:voBelt.obj There should be two instances of this line in the Cr2. Now use search to locate the Obj file in your runtime and edit the Cr2 to point to the correct location OR transfer the Obj to the location pointed to in the Cr2. (I prefer editing the Cr2) Hope this helps.

If the cr2 points to the wrong location for the obj file then you would get an error message when loading the cr2. A common cause of geometry not displaying in Poser 4 is a corrupt rsr file in the Geometries folder, close Poser then try renaming the rsr associated with the obj, Poser will build a new rsr the next time you load the cr2. Other causes might be that the object is scaled too big or small to display in the document window, or it may be loading way off in space somewhere, check the translations of the BODY and hip.

Oh boy! Well, it was late andand my dog ate my list of things to do. ;) Bottom-line, I should have looked there first but I didnt, it was late, got totally frustrated and confused and lost the handle. Thank you both for pointing the direction, the cr2 file did the trick. Although I had opened it to make sure there was content in there, I didnt scope it for accuracy. On the other hand, the female figure would have been better off left out of view but the rabbit is an excellent model.
