Good idea. The only problem with the whole Amapi deal is that Amapi is waaaaaay to unstable for the money. Even the demo of 7.1 I tried crashed several times in just a few minutes. They would need to make this thing rock solid. Another idea would be to well improve the VM modeler (Or add another modeler with a plugin) and add some of the modeling tools that Amapi has. Carrara is a much more stable code base that Amapi ever will be. Regards, Paul
I'm quite happy with carrara's vertex modeler. (But then I've had almost ten years of ray dream 5's vertex modeler as my only experience.....) The only thing I would like is nurbs, but even that isn't really necessary, since the real-time subdivision is almost the same. I haven't had a need to fillet anything yet, but I can do that with a boolean operation. I can't really think of anything else I'd need.... Modeling is more about trying to figure out how to do what you need with the tools you have, rather than trying to find new tools to do what you want. Would you rather have an impressive collection of models, or an impressive collection of tools?

i had a thought, in the middle of the night,..lol...but what about, and im not sure if this is possible or plausible, but why not... what about Amapi as a plug in/stand alone for Carrara? it seems like its kind of what theyre going for in a roundabout way...and it is a better modeling program, sooooo..once both programs are installed and you go into the 'modeling room' in C, then it just opens up Amapi instead? is it a bad idea? gawd i need sleep...lol..
