Subject: Hey DAZ... Who normally wears a "Flat-Top" anyway?

Roy G ( ) posted Sat, 11 September 2004 at 6:23 PM · edited Mon, 29 July 2024 at 3:52 AM

I went over to Daz today to check for updates for the Morphing Flat Top hair.
Wow... There are updates for the Girl, and Stephanie 3. But sadly there are no updates for Mike 3, or David.

So I guess I'll have to turn some dials, and play with magnets... Darn.

Don't it just hurt your head sometimes? If you don't have it, Netherworks hair conversion kit might help. (Netherworks site -> Free stuff -> Morphs and Conversions)

Stepahie 3 fits David. You can get the M3 fit off of the Michael 3 Base Page at Daz (see link). It's part of the Updates at the bottom of the page.

Thanks muchly! I looked and looked. But I never looked there.

... going OT i think one of the best flat tops ever was Grace Jones's (I think in one of the last Roger Moore's Bond movies). Well actually... being a bit sarcastic, Grace Jones had 2 flat tops, one on her head, the other was her breast ;) Ok. My 5 mins of sillyness...

Roy G ( ) posted Sun, 12 September 2004 at 6:52 AM

LOL, your right about Grace Jones. And that was a memorable performance.

It's probably a little sexist of me, for thinking that the "Flat Top" is for that Tough-Guy look. It does work for that Tough-Gal look, also. I wonder now, if there is a fit for Koshini? If I had her, it would be fun to try it.

And speaking of sillyness, I guess it was me. For thinking that product updates, would be on the "product updates" page.

The other classic flat top was Carl Lewis at the '84 Olympics.

I threw this together for fun. It was not easy to get it to fit either. But it came out good.

Meet GI Sara! It's kind of a different look for her huh?

SpottedKitty ( ) posted Sun, 12 September 2004 at 12:17 PM

I dunno, that flat-top always makes me think they've had a tremendous fright, then a nasty accident with a chainsaw...

stemardue ( ) posted Sun, 12 September 2004 at 4:44 PM

WOW! That GI Sara is fantastic looking! ;)

cedarwolf ( ) posted Mon, 13 September 2004 at 8:04 AM

That's a good look for the Professional Sara. Did it take much tweaking?

Roy G ( ) posted Mon, 13 September 2004 at 11:41 AM

I only loaded Sara this morning, and this is the first render. All told about two hours, including the Sara and free stuff install. The Texture is "Sara Smile" from fauve. It's a good texture; it really fixed up the eyebrows, and the color even matched the Buzz-cut. :) The eyes were also out of free stuff. The gun is at Daz, and also free this week. It wasn't all that hard to fit the hair. Scaling, position, and one magnet were all it needed. Thanks for the comments.

I still cant find an update for the flat top to fit m3. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I didnt see the update on the main m3 page either. I really need this hair to fit m3 so I can finish a project im working on.

There's several good gun-items in the DAZ weekly freestuff archive, though I find some can need a bit of work to look right in P5. There are three packs of numerous Questor guns; Western, Modern, and Sci-Fi. One of the guns in the Sci-Fi pack looks rather like a Walther PPK. Was the one you use with Sara the "Desert Eagle". It looks a bit big for her hand. Maybe scale it down a little, or use something smaller, like the PPK-clone.

Roy G ( ) posted Tue, 11 January 2005 at 4:07 PM

Badaziam, They seem to have moved it again. I looked through all of the add on stuff for him but it's not listed. At least I don't see it. :( I'll look for it some more after work. Antonia Tiger, Yeah that's the Desert Eagle. I kind of figured that since Sara was a little on the petite side, that the full-scale version looked about right. Hands like guns come in a variety of sizes. But thanks for your suggestion. :)

Attached Link: Trans Map here.

In case anyone's interested, I have an Afro trans map for the Flat Top available on my site.

Roy G ( ) posted Wed, 12 January 2005 at 1:31 AM

Perhaps contacting DAZ is your best solution. The Flat Top was updated 08-24-2004 and perhaps that includes the M3 fit morph. Though the link to the update page is broken. There may also be a way to re-download the latest version.
