Subject: your works are appearing elsewhere

Just to let all members know, I've found some of your works on a website www.babene.ru (look in the 3D section) the worse part of it is that you are not given credit for your work.

Thanks for the heads up, wsumike. I have put a notice on the Copyright Forum where they will hopefully take care of it.

I found one of mine there :( as well as one of DSR's, AB's, and Spiritfoxy's just to name a few - sheesh those peeps are shameless since I saw Boris, Olivia and Coca-Cola images too - they are seriously courting trouble since Boris has even sued people for posting his images without permission. sighs if they would ask or give credit, it wouldnt be such a big deal.

There's some of dreampaint 3d's stuff. Looks to me like the galleries here are not the only places they have raided.

Mine is there as well.. it seems someone called is posting them as his. I have sent email stating to that site about him.. advised to ban him and removed anything posted by him.. though I think everyone should be getting into this and flood them with emails and complaints..

Ardiva ( ) posted Mon, 13 September 2004 at 11:06 AM

Pandy..it won't do any good to complain to the site owner about a user putting up your image there as the admins there are well aware of this. All images there are stolen from various galleries on the net and the site owners don't care.

While I didnt see anything of mine there, thank god, I have had a piece of mine stolen and actually used for profit by someone else before, so I know how it is too see someone else taking credit and even earning money with your work. Is there then not some way to have the site owners put out of business? And further why is'nt Renderosity doing anything to protect our images? Since almost all of the images over there, are rips from the galleries here at Rosity, I think perhaps Renderosity should assist those who have work stolen and put up over there, after all, if we have too take our work down to ensure its not ripped off by those people, that hurts Rosity's gallery's. I mean perhaps if the site owners over there, heard from the PTB here at Renderosity, they would take it more seriuosly and do something about it when contacted by an artist. Just a thought.

Good point, BDC. I haven't seen any response from the Renderosity site owners and that is disturbing. My best guess is now everyone contact them and let them know that something has to be done. Maybe the threat of pulling our works could light a fire and get the ball rolling. I don't know what else to say :(

Ardiva ( ) posted Tue, 14 September 2004 at 11:52 AM

wsumike...go to the Copyright Forum...you will see lots of entries there for this. Again thank you so much for bringing this to our attention.

Ardiva ( ) posted Tue, 14 September 2004 at 12:00 PM

We are also trying to expose another website that sells ebooks with RO artists images on the covers. This stuff is an ongoing problem for sure. sigh

wsumike ( ) posted Tue, 14 September 2004 at 12:09 PM

I followed Ardiva's advice and checked the other forum.

Well first you can't run a site owner out of business because people post stolen art on their site...it even happens that people post stolen art here on rosity.Combine this with the fact that this is another country and you've doubled your dilemma.I dunno how many more people are posting stolen art there but I conversed with the site owner there for two days as well as other Russian site owners (thought it was a Czech site at first lol),if you go there thinking you'll run them out of business or start making threats or demands you can often forget them working with you to correct this...they not only have our works there but artists like Frazetta and a lot of Disney stuff. So remember to treat these people with courtesy if its your art and send them the links to prove it...if its not your work then contact the person whose work was stolen because they're the only ones who can act and if they don't then tough noogies. They removed all the works I found there and banned the artist that posted them...thats all rosity does, thats all that any site in the U.S. does so remember that~if you want legal action, hope you got deep pockets dude cause no lawyer is gonna take your case for the chicken feed we'll get for our works (cause we're not famous lol). But don't just complain...contact the artist if its not your work, contact Disney and whoever else's work you see there. They won't remove it till the owners ask and the Russian government won't act unless someone like Disney takes them on.
