polygone? ok, where's that bird flown of to now?

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

Hey, gang, -- it's ROOF FLATTENING TIME!!!

What an excuse for a jumpin' up'n'down party!!

Just a few heavy pple could sort the good doctor's problem in a matter of moments!!! (garage-roof party!! newest trend!!)

Got any heavy-metal head-banging (or foot-banging) music availble, Dr G??

We'll soon have that roof sorted!! (Of course, the flashing will need to be inserted to stop any rain entering, but that's for after the party.) (edit dew too mynor speling mistayke..)
cheers,
Diolma

"How many polygons does the garage roof have?" Let's see...3 as it is but if you add that one side and a back...5? And, if you count the soffit....6?

OK doc, Don't know how everyone else is doing, but, I'm with you so far...I think.

I'm amazed at your house! You've followed this primer perfectly. Love that Mustang too ;-)

tpriest ( ) posted Sun, 19 September 2004 at 12:57 AM

So instead of a doctor who makes house calls, this doctor makes houses!

cherokee69 ( ) posted Sun, 19 September 2004 at 7:50 AM · edited Sun, 19 September 2004 at 8:04 AM

Thanks doc..and billy...this house is exciting to do and see it come together. Doc, you have done a fantastic job in creating this and the tut is very easy...in most cases...to follow.

I can't wait to do more on it. I wish more people would contribute something showing that they too are following your tuts and not just posting comments about how good they are and glad to see them.

I'd like to see this model in the marketplace for a small fee. Then those of us who are all thumbs could purchase it, and Doc could make a little $. Would you be interested in it?

Hey Doc, This is one hugh tut. Since I have gotten into working with this, you have done a fantastic job on working this one out so far. Thanks for all your hard work and thanks for helping to keep my interest.

I half-wish I'd followed the tutorial all thee way, but I've been using the methods to make quick models of 3D houses, as I'm embroiled in house-hunting with other family members. And one alleged bedroom would only take a standard bed if you either removed the radiator or fitted a sliding door and climbed over the bed to get to the rest of the room. No, Geep, I can't just tweak the Xscale dial for the house.

Doc,

In message #17, shouldn't the xTran number for trim_1 be something like -0.132 instead of -0.032?

OK, that's cool...I also noticed there are 2 other holes to fill on the main roof but you probably already know about those.

cherokee69 ( ) posted Wed, 22 September 2004 at 8:13 AM

Did we ever create the material zones for the exterior and interior of the other rooms like we did for the garage? Or is that coming later?

geep ( ) posted Wed, 22 September 2004 at 8:34 AM

re: 2 other holes. ......... Yup, we will do those. re: material zones for the other rooms. Nope, and ... yup. ;=]

Addendum to my last extremely detailed reply:

This tut is really designed to build the basic (exterior) structure for "Poser House" and will not (at this time) do much more detail for the interior, except, perhaps, for a nice set of stairs. ....... ;=]
(besides, the painters informed me that they do not do interiors - especially when there is no 2nd floor upon which to stand)

The garage was "mapped" in some detail to show how the process is done ... but, it is left as an excercise for the viewer to apply the same technique to the other parts of the house and depends on how the viewer wants their house to look.

We will create a texmap for the garage roof to see how it can be done.

cheers,
dr geep
;=]

P.S. Besides, don't you think this tut has enough pages already? ... ;=]

OK, that's cool...I'l still follow this. It's too interesting.

AntoniaTiger ( ) posted Wed, 22 September 2004 at 3:48 PM

As I commented way-back, there's a garage-wall section which is partly an inside wall and partly outside, which makes things awkward for grouping/materials, One solution is a specific texture-map, but that makes it hard to redecorate. Better would be to make that wall from two magic-boxes. I think. A third trick is to use a single-sided square as a virtual wallpaper. In this realworld house, bookcases are the preferred option. They also improve acoustic and thermal insulation.

cherokee69 ( ) posted Wed, 22 September 2004 at 4:02 PM

"P.S. Besides, don't you think this tut has enough pages already? ... ;=]" Doc, you kidding me aren't you...never can have enough pages.
