Tempt the Hand of Fate and it'll give you the "finger"!
Tht's why I always open the newsletter first and check the "freebie" before deleting it. You never know when it might change. A couple of helpful hints for the "Dr. Strange" outfit: 1. It is designed for Michael 1/2. 2. One should set Mike's full body morph to "thin" 3. "Hide" Mike's following body parts to avoid "poke-through": Shins (both) Thighs (both) Abdomen Chest Collars (both) This is certainly one of the better items offered for free! Sincerely, Bill

Thank you, Beth! Coming from you, that means a lot, really! Of course, what really makes the character work is your "Boris"! Since I purchased him, I think all of my male characters use "Boris" in some way, even if I save the resulting shape as a morph target and apply it to an old Michael 1 figure. Let's see, the one's I remember off the top of my head are: Davros, creator of the Daleks The Doctor, inspired by Peter Cushing's features The Master, based upon Roger Delgado Frankenstein's Monster, using the "suit" from PoserWorld Ming the Merciless, tweaked from the Master's settings I'm sure there are others. Hopefully DAZ will correct its credit card processing so that I may purchase "Brom" for Michael 3. Sincerely, Bill

For the Doctor, just pop over to my gallery. Mind you, my version is not based upon any of the actors from the original series, the Fox movie or the upcoming series revival. Instead, he's loosely based upon Peter Cushing's makeup from the two theatrical AARU releases from the mid '60s. I knew I'd have a tough audience with the others, so I opted to create my own based on the BBC's earlier idea to have Jon Pertwee regenerate into an older gentleman. As we well know, Tom Baker was "discovered" via his role in "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad" and landed the role. When I applied a cool free texture, "Alberto", created by Mec4D, I realized my interpretation of this "older" Doctor favored Peter Cushing. I think it was the moustache. I'll post a render of the Master when I get home. Sincerely, Bill

It looks like we cross posted, there. I appreciate the suggestion, but I don't really see the resemblance myself, Troughton's face was considerably more square. Besides, the moustache is part of that texture. I doubt I could paint it out without ruining the upper lip. However, I'd have a better chance at recreating the "canon" Doctors using "Boris" than with Michael alone. When I build up my courage, I may try it one day. Yes, one day, I'll come back. Until then, there must be no tears, no regrets, just... Oops! Lapsed into quoting "Dalek Invasion of Earth"! Snicker! Sincerely, Bill

STeveJax, go to the "Member Options" drop-down menu and select "My Profile". About halfway down the page you'll see the following text: Would you like to receive the following by email? Newsletter Yes No Which format? Text HTML Select "Yes" and choose your preferred format. However, I don't know the length of the "turn around" period. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Bill

Actually, the Sontarans' heads varied from serial to serial. The first one, Lynx, was nearly black and almost thin (compared to his successor). The next one, Field Major Styre, had a skull so massive he looked more like a Mardi Gras mask than a being. Next we had the soldiers who invaded Gallifrey and finally a pair presented in "The Two Doctors". They looked almost emaciated compared to earlier designs. It is Styre from "The Sontaran Experiment" who is usually depicted in cover art and posters. Fans remember him the most. I doubt I could have exaggerated the Freak's head to that degree without magnets, and frankly, I suck at them. I also suspect the Freak's stockier body (which I think makes more sense for a Sontaran) makes the skull look slightly smaller. When compared to Michael or David, though, it's huge! But, as I said, he's still very much just a WiP. Sincerely, Bill

:) It's been a while since I watched my collection, your explaination was accurate as far as i can remember. I have every complete episode of Doctor Who Aired in the US as well as Partial episodes from those in the series that got burned in the great BBC Fire. I knew I'd seen skinny Egghead Sontarans in there. :)
That's a VERY impressive collection! The PBS stations in my viewing area only aired from Pertwee's debut "SpearHead from Space" through the concluding serial with McCoy, "Survival". I did eventually tape the consecutive stories from "Spearhead..." through "Castrovalva", but from that point, I only recorded sporadic stories that caught my interest. I now wish I had recorded the others faithfully. Georgia Public Television had "promised" during one pledge break they'd purchase the earlier serials (the ones with all episodes intact) from the Hartnell and a Troughton eras, but donations faltered and they cut their losses. They did, however, air "An Unearthly Child" that night and I recorded it. Though fire did destroy some footage, the sad reality is that most of the missing episodes resulted from budgetary reasons. The BBC ordered "X" number of videotapes to be "wiped" so they could be used for current shows. It was, in theory, a preventable tragedy. Sincerely, Bill

The BBC have always been a bit strange about doctor who, it has been one of their most succesful shows but even now they seem reluctant to make any more and it still seems regarded as an almost worthless program. Most of the doctors after tom baker were very inferior IMO So some of the newer programs are worthless.

Then you might want to check out the latest Renderosity newsletter. the "freebie" is a clothing set for Michael 1/2 supplied by Wusamah, a merchant at this site. What his thumbnail does not show is the theatrically elaborate cape that is also supplied. In fact, the costume is that worn by "Doctor Strange" from Marvel Comics. However, by simply toning down the texture (say, down to 75%) and changing the base color to red, you obtain an outfit straight from Alex Raymond's original strip. I thought a few members mifgt be interested. Sincerely, BillTempt the Hand of Fate and it'll give you the "finger"!
