Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 26 2:05 pm)
I'd be surprised to see Poser 6 get released before next summer.. and that's almost a year or so away. With CL's track record, that means we'll see it patched to stability in about 2 years, and that's MUCH too long to "wait and see" what will be in Poser 6. Supposedly, they are going to build off P5, not P4, so P5 support will actually be "base" P6 support.

"I'd be surprised to see Poser 6 get released before next summer" It would probably take that long to get products updated to P5 (neither of these companies are that fast LOL) I am sure that P6 would be based on P5 and enhanced...that would make sense. But it is what enhancements they make that may be worth waiting for...because that could stuff that could be added into the content. But then, I dont have P5, so what do I know LOL Rawn
I wasn't thinking of trying to retro fix all the old Daz content for P5.. I'd just like to see newly released product tested and made working in P5. The whole "Girl Vs Crosstalk clothing issues" thing was just a mess. You can't make next gen figures, and rely on people having an old version of an app around for it to work. Course, i WOULD like to see the Millenium Dragon, with P5 displacement and proper P5 bumps made available...

"Who knows, maybe poser5 stuff may not work the same anymore." It will. Poser 6 is not going to introduce any significant changes to Poser 5, although they have said there would be a couple extra features. The focus is on getting all those niggling things to work right. Based on the last survey, I think we'll see improvements to the animation structure, enhancements to the hair and cloth rooms, possibly some additional shaders, and (praying) some lighting enhancements. "I'd be surprised to see Poser 6 get released before next summer.. and that's almost a year or so away." Quite possibly. "You can't make next gen figures, and rely on people having an old version of an app around for it to work." Exactly. Unless, of course, you intend to declare that app dead and develop your own with the intent of only creating the next gen figures for it. Then you could not worry about the things that make life hard in the other app and focus on making the best figures you possibly can, regardless of what your prinicpal customer base desires. After all they'll follow you wherever you go. Please note that aside from excerpts, all statements above are made by a delusional psychopath with a penchant for drama and no relationship with either company, and have no bearing on reality whatsoever.
thou and I, my friend, can, in the most flunkey world, make, each of us, one non-flunkey, one hero, if we like: that will be two heroes to begin with. (Carlyle)
CL has already stated more than a few times that P6 isn't going to have a whole lot of new candy, but be more a stabilization and expansion of function in the current app type of release. Of course that ignores all the goodies in Firefly and the shader system that just needs to be enabled to work... ;) And it has reached the point where P5 users are there in large enough numbers to rock the house. And they are pretty much being roundly ignored, save for a few who have been creating some nice stuff (HMann and Nerd come to mind instantly, as does PhilC...). DS is still beta, and even if it weren't, there would have to be modules written and paid for before many of the functionality levels that Poser possesses now could be realized. Someone with a large enough team could pretty easily steal DAZ place...or at least a large chunk of it...with P5 specific items. The first person who figures out a utility that will convert the old P4 texturecolor control settings to the P5 shader system will have a winner on their hands, for instance. Dynamic cloth, while having its own peccidilos, also completely avoids the whole issue of crosstalk, and the building dislike for having to buy the same clothes for half a dozen different meshes.
I don't really have that much issue with the interface, now that I get their "take" on it. I do have issues with it not supporting opengl and 3d video card tech, and the bugs that still remain, and the firefly problems with displacement mapping.

did you know that the next version of Bryce will be open G/L and you'll have the abilty to pose charecters in there just like in poser.. add animtion to that. and we can say bye,bye poser...like I feel like waiting 1 year for P6.. if i can get better lighting, open g/l, trees, atmosphere, moutians, water, and the abilty to pose my characters in bryce in less than 3 months.. why wait... poser is done... it had a nice run... but unless it can come out with a significant release in the next couple of months.. daz studio with bryce will takeover..

Quoting Dan Farr here....or least a portion of it. "As mentioned before the main improvements of the next version of Bryce is it has a faster renderer, almost twice as fast, the ability to pose and manipulate figures, great new content and an Open GL Viewport similar to what you see on DAZ|Studio. There are a number of other features as well. The bottom line is that this is going to be a terrific new product and what the Bryce community is looking for. " His whole letter is post #1I can do minor(X,Y,Z axis) Posing in Vue already....I've brought in stuff in & have had clothes fly off...parts get twisted...of course all my fault..not the proggies at all.
I wonder, if they mean something similiar....
Not enough info given at all :( That said I highly doubt...Bryce will be able to conform clothes & all that....No way has Daz had time at this stage to turn Bryce into Poser so to speak.... Of Course thats IMHO.

Daz has a poll and want to know what us poser users want as their priority... I say supporting the current version of Poser is quite important, and so far 30% of the votes agree! Vote for P5 in '04 To heck with Bush AND "Lurch" ;)
