Well it's official now, Bryce 5.5 will be able to import pz3 files directly. Perhaps Poser and Bryce will become a team after all. DAZ forum member question: Bryce 5 can't load characters from a pz3 file, you have to import them as objects( through the route : export wavefront Object). Will Bryce 5.5 be able to load characters or pz3 files directly. DAZ relpy: Yes. The ability to directly use pz3 files will be available with the next release through the import function of Bryce 5.5. I already had some doubts about buying the Vue 5 update and now I'm going to hang on to my money for sure to see what Bryce 5.5 will bring.

Can it take poser animations?

DAZ forum user question: so any word yet if daz studio supports animations if that will also be true in bryce ?? and if so will that mean importing poser animation files into daz studio saving then opening in bryce for using animations ? DAZ reply: The next major release of DAZ|Studio will have animation capabilities. In fact, the animation timeline was in long ago and is currently turned off. At a minimum, you'll be able to load in a Poser animation into Studio and then using the integrated Studio component inside of Bryce, import a key frame at a time. We are not promising an automated solution when 5.5 ships but it's possible, and certainly will be available very soon after if we don't make the 5.5 release date. ---------------------------------------------------------- Judging from this post initially it will not support animated pz3 files only static ones, but there are work arounds for it. Then again the info doesn't seem to be definity yet, a lot can change. Personally I'm very happy with the pz3 support in Bryce 5.5 already, even if it's not animation support yet. I'm not an animator only use Poser & Vue to create stills for digital comics. Perhaps I'll be using Poser & Bryce to do this soon? I'd love the idea, I've been a Bryce user for many years and the only reason I stopped using it and switched to Vue instead was the lack of pz3 import. I still prefer Bryce over Vue, so perhaps this is will be the way back?

I own Bryce 5 and have no need for a 3d Starter kit (or whatever). What's the cost to upgrade from 5 to 5.5? Also is it worth it to upgrade to 5.5, if 6 is on the way. Normally to go from version 5.0 to 5.5 is a update. Going to 5.0/5.5 to 6.0 is the upgrade. So, I'm confused. I'm I paying for a update or a upgrade? Another thing, I bought Bryce 5 when it was owned by Corel.

DAZ says they will treat all Bryce customers the same, whether you bought it from Corel or from them.

But they say there will be no upgrade pricing. They might change their minds about that, because people are upset. Dan Farr said something about maybe giving people who already own Bryce 5 some kind of bonus for upgrading. (Free models, a coupon, something like that, I presume.) Another possibility would be to offer the introductory price only to previous owners.

OTOH, at $99 (less if you're a PC club member, or have that "bundle" coupon), the whole program is cheaper than, say, Vue 5's upgrade price.

Bryce can do it's own animating, now whether you can pose Poser stuff..I'm sure they'll let us know..;)

If you already do own Bryce 5, you can just get the 3D starter bundle upgrade. There's a PC member one and a non PC member one.

The new version of Bryce will allow you to pose Poser stuff via D|S. I guess D|S will be a Bryce plugin. Or is it the other way around?
