I've been busy staring at the heavens lately, dug the telescope out and set it up. The night sky where we are has no city light pollution so you can get a great view. It's inspired me to do some 'space images', also it's a change of pace, and I've alwalys wanted to do them....

So what do you think, this is my first try, flame fractals, Universe creator PSP plugin, my Heavy Industrial textures(seem to work for planets as well as factories), rendered in Bryce....

Oooh pretty flare looking thing. I dont think you'd be able to see more stars beyond a lumionous object than normal in real life though. Also the lighting is kinda bizzare. If lights supposed to be coming from the flare looking thing and/or the sun, then why is there light striking each part of the planets in different locations.

Looks great. I gotta get a telescope.

The effect looks AWESOME> Well done! The only problem I have is the planets look dead - like dead moons. IF that's what they are, then you nailed it. LOL. But I think I see some attempts at clouds and atmosphere in the nearest planet. If you soften the cloud areas and add an atmosphere ambience, then you'll have it.

Looks great Zhann, I love the effect. Who says there couldn't be light thingies near dead planets? That's one hell of a telescope though! ;)

yup, the planets are dead, dead, dead...I'm working on getting the atmosphere to look more realistic, so far looks like a plastic dome covers the planet, any suggestions/settings/mats welcome...

the planet on the left looks like it's covered in salt deposits or something......a deeper bump would have made it interesting, you'd hafta wonder what's happening on the surface. Love the effect of the flame fractal, but for some reason the larger stars are unconvincing, and feel a bit unnecessary.

it's got me beat..;) of course, I would never disparage someone who supplies us with free mats..;) I'm sure you'll get better, but it's pretty good already..

Quickie on how I do it without leaving Universe program. You can also do it keeping your nebular option well inside the planet so as not to let it seem to radiate out.
