Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 20 11:41 am)
I'm not quite sure what you are asking here.....if the question is "if I have a poser model of a red blood cell, can I shade it to look like the above photo above", then the answer is "maybe". To me, the above image look like polys are shaded black if they face the camera, and white if they are parallel to the camera. So a simple edge_blend might do the trick. Experiment by plugging it into the ambient colour.

The fresnel can be done in P5 -- but it's a bit tricky as you have to use some funky math shaders and displacement to create the lens. THere are some good shaders for this in the P5 forum at rdna -- look for gmadone's work. Really nice stuff. This could be done using edge blend and a high ambience with a clay or skin shader, a color ramp, and a picture. I'd play around, but it'll be at least a month before I'm free enough to do so, I'm afraid. :(
thou and I, my friend, can, in the most flunkey world, make, each of us, one non-flunkey, one hero, if we like: that will be two heroes to begin with. (Carlyle)
Nomuse, my understanding is that the edge_blend is effectively a fresnel, with the point of reference being the camera (rather that say a light). You can achieve a fresnel effect from a light in P5, but it is very complex - my New Skin Shader gallery image does this.

nomuse -- it's a capability of the firefly render engine, but I haven't found access to it yet through poser. It's possible Stewer may have a clue. Tempest is pretty nifty at it.

I've browsed the Bryce forum and saw that they had an electron microscopy shader. Is there one available for Poser 5?
