I put this image up in the Vue art gallery. I got nice comments there. But just a little while ago I showed this picture to a friend and he immediatly thought the mans hand is a penis. That is really not my intention, so I would like to know what you all think. I would like to keep the couple, because I made this picture for someone who asked for a romantic picture with a couple in it. But I don't want people thinking the hand is something it is not. Thanks in advance for anyone who is willing to answer. BTW, I added a link to a bigger size of this picture.

Umm, I didn't put the link in anymore cause I decided to put in the bigger picture.

heyas; it seems to me to be too high to be his penis, but since you mentioned it, i can see how the silhouette can look that way. i did read it as his hand, though. you might be able to 'salvage' the pic here, if you do a bit of post-painting and, say, paint in more fingers, as if he spread his hand and is reaching for her hip? once you put in more finger divisions, it won't look like a penis/scrotum division any more.

I saw the pic when you put it in the gallery, and I didn't think it was anything but a hand. If that guy's got his privates halfway up his abdomen, he's got some serious troubles and probably wouldn't look so relaxed as he does here! He'd definitely need to hire a tailor at least, if not a surgeon. lol Cheers, Mike

LOL! I agree with the above. The hand is too high and also too large...unless the guy really, really likes his girlfriend. ;) Seriously, "penis" never crossed my mind at all, without your explanation. Very romantic image, too, and nicely done! :) Varian (P.S. I'm unable to view Renderosity-based images, so thanks for linking to it offsite or I'd've missed out.)

Thank you so much everyone. Bloodsong, I might try that post-painting thing. I never done it before since I'm so new to 3D. But, I think I should give it a try. :)

Did you save the .vue file that this was at one point? Because you know, you can select that hand and delete it and re-render the picture, or if your careful, you can even rotate or bend it some. Cheers, Mike ...................... PS Varian: Why are you unable to view Renderosity based pictures?

bloodsong ( ) posted Wed, 22 November 2000 at 9:24 AM

heyas; well, since it is in silhouette, it's basically just black lines, so it shouldn't be too hard to paint. if it were a fully-lit, light and shaded detailed hand... well, you wouldn't have this problem in the first place ;D

Well, since your friend thought his hand was a penis, why not go for broke and tell him her forearm is an umbilical cord? That's a nice picture BTW. Tres romantique. Larry F

Mike, it's a Renderosity scripting problem. Any Renderosity-based image displays as a Renderosity logo. There are others who have the problem, too, not just me. Most don't hang out here due to it, but I stick around for the boards and the Free Stuff areas. :)

bloodsong ( ) posted Thu, 23 November 2000 at 11:40 AM

lol, larry! varian, it won't show the pics if you have a firewall or security thing that 'doesn't show the referrer.' or somesuch. (just read that over on the news/team board.) whassa matter, you don't trust us? ;D

You think I'd trust the likes of you? Hey wait, we're in the fan club, so I guess I do! :) Yeah, I got a "protector", but only just started using it a couple months ago. I've never been able to view images on Renderosity, though, since they first opened. Tesign has the same problem. We both look at a lot of Renderosity logos...great fun. ;) I think most folks with the problem just move on to other sites. I'm not concerned about it; kinda accepted it as just the way it goes here.
