Subject: Major update to the FAQ ! check it out

agiel ( ) posted Sun, 26 September 2004 at 10:46 AM · edited Thu, 09 January 2025 at 8:01 AM

I just finished a major rewrite of the FAQ. Check out the link at the top of the page, even if you already know everything :) Hopefully, this one will be a little more helpful at covering the basics of Vue at Renderosity.

Wow, great job, Agiel! Lots of good info there...hope folks will check it out. I found a few minor typos, but the only problem I see is that I got a white background in the table with pale beige writing, so it was kind of hard to read. Might have to do with the different settings in profiles.

Thanks for letting me know, I will edit it and force the colors.

Excellent work :)

Really helpful. Looks like a lot of work. Very well done !

agiel ( ) posted Sun, 26 September 2004 at 11:09 AM

Djeser - please try again. I forced the text color to be black. Let me know how it looks. I still have to add 'Table of contents' links to the different sections as that page is getting long. I will do that later. If you have ideas of questions or sections that should be there, don't hesitate to let me know.

jwhitham ( ) posted Sun, 26 September 2004 at 11:37 AM

Nice job. I was just about to suggest a 'table of contents', but I see you've already got that covered. On a point of factual information, the current release of Vue Pro is actually 4.54 - Build 272334.

agiel ( ) posted Sun, 26 September 2004 at 11:40 AM

No problem. There is actually an issue with 4.54. It is not clear if it is a beta version or not. I have Vue Pro installed at 4.53 and it does not find new updates to download automatically.

jwhitham ( ) posted Sun, 26 September 2004 at 11:42 AM

Also, regarding the Backroom, Phoul removed the tutorials from his site some months ago. Whilst I feel a link to his great animations deserves to be there somewhere, the link should no longer mention tutorials.

jwhitham ( ) posted Sun, 26 September 2004 at 11:52 AM

As you say, if Pro doesn't find any update, it must still be a beta. I assumed it had been declared a stable release as the download page no longer says beta, nor does it have a link to the previous official release. Sometimes I find e-on's update policy a tad confusing. :)

agiel ( ) posted Sun, 26 September 2004 at 12:04 PM

There seems to be a problem with the website as if you click on the anouncement section, it takes you to a page that says 4.54 is no longer beta, but if you go to the page for 4.53 and click on 'next version', you will find the page for 4.54 that still says it is beta. I agree... it is confusing. I just updated the FAQ with a table of contents by the way :)

Great job on the FAQ! Many thanks.

Cheers,

The menu color is still borked in Firefox. Hard to read colors.

agiel ( ) posted Sun, 26 September 2004 at 10:26 PM

Pete - can you post a screenshot of how that page is displayed for you ? I am running Firefox and I even looked at the FAQ with Renderosity's default color settings, and the page looks fine for me.

forester ( ) posted Sun, 26 September 2004 at 11:06 PM

Great job! And it looks nice in Opera browser too!

The cayan font color is very hard to read. Black would be much better if at all possible. I am using IE 6.

Thanks... I will try to fix that tonight.

Looks good, agiel; the main text is ok, but i can't really see some of the links. Same in Firefox.

According to source code of the FAQ page the fonts should be showing black in the left menu but are showing cyan on my computer and purple on the screen capture of Djeser. When using Firefox fonts look white where Djeser looks purple in her screen capture as I view it now.

agiel ( ) posted Mon, 27 September 2004 at 5:51 PM

This is because the links are using whatever color you have set for your renderosity style sheet. I will update the FAQ tonight to for the color of these links to be black on light background :)

iloco ( ) posted Mon, 27 September 2004 at 6:01 PM

I thought that might be over riding the font color code after looking at Djeser font colors compared to mine in screen capture. Black should take care the problem. Thanks.

How about now ? Does it look better on everybody's browser ?

iloco ( ) posted Mon, 27 September 2004 at 7:51 PM

One thing for sure, I can read it now without any problems. :) Thanks agiel.
