Just a side by side comparison of the original and postworked gallery image. I liked both actually and was torn between which to post. So I thought I would show the original here so those who might be interested could see the difference. Post work was basically a little added grain and a small bit of desaturation for mood.....

first one looks alive. second one looks dead. i guess it depends on what mood you want to convey with the image :)

Hahaha.... dead... big grin I'm well known for my obsession with dead things, but I can assure you this little starfish was very much alive. :~) shrug

if you love starfish, then it might be worth your time taking a trip to Moreton Island in Queensland, Australia. when i went there on holidays with my dad, every day around sundown, the beach around the resort would get flooded by stranded starfish waiting for the tide to pull them back in. very interesting sight, because no 2 starfish were the same. they went from puny to massive and all kinds of colours Note: i tend to ramble :)

That sounds like something I would love! Another place to add to my long list of "Gotta See It Someday".... :~)

I love both of them! And I really understand being torn between postworked and original version, have the same problem with almost every image :D Good thing we've got this forum to show both! :D

Well in my opinion the postworked one just edges in front, although they are both excellent, I feel that there is more mood in the gallery version, and by comparison the original (and no offence meant) looks a little ordinary. I think we all know your obsession with dead things by now! Looks like you will need a new notepad soon to fit all your places to visit. he he.

wanderlust lone star chiming in with a thumbs up on the desaturated one :]

Tedz, I used to be a necrophiliac until..... erm, no, that's not a joke for here...... I like the 2nd one 'Chelle. Rayso, that reminds me of my hols up in Scotland last month - we found a rockpool with a load of shells in (no pun intended!) that we thought were just winkles like the other pools... it wasn't until virtually all of them got their claws out and started running about we noticed they were all hermit crabs... not kidding, at least 250-300 of them all together! A great sight. (",)

I like the colored one...

I like the desaturation but the grain it added destracts me. Not sue which one I would go with.

I really like the first one.Seems to have a whole bunch of depth to it in thew center. But I really like your sep27 post in gallery.Brilliant. Funny, that day I was out and got the little crab shots I took a bunch of starfish to,but thought who the heck would be interested in these lifeless creatures. Not stealing your thread, but here's some westcoast ones.
