Not sure if I should just post it in Bryce or Poser but since it has both I figured both. Well people might remember some time ago I was doing a big old Tolkien picture. It sort of got put on the back burner for a little bit because my hard drive was full and the Zygote contest and a few other ones came up. Well I am done .. finally. Well except for post work and stuff. Let me know whatcha think. This is pretty much the renders as is. It actually has every member of the Fellowship of the Ring in there and should be pretty darn faithful. I wanted to do something that could have all of the characters. It is the battle of The Chamber of Records where Balin was entombed. And no that isn't the Balrog. :) It is a big cave troll. Rendered in Bryce. A full list of credits will be coming but it is dang long so maybe won't be. I didn't do everyting in here but might have to break it down. Anyway, let me know what you think! That's ambitious... How badly did your CPU scream when you asked ti t render this beast? Good work on it!

Well I rendered it in chunks upon chunks so it ony screamed marginally. There would be no way to do it otherwise. I normally did it in blocks of one or two characters and pieced it together getting rid of excess. About 20 layers all told. And thanks!

Well it is much better than a 900 meg file or so. Shudders But fortunately I just got a drive that allowed me to finish the pic. :)

Great image! And always interesting to hear how people find ways to work around "limits". Working in layers is also the way pro-animators work as it saves time and allows for precise individual edits. (Of course I know that this wasn't animated... but save your files as in a year of two- who knows?)

Impressive image. But you do realize that in the render wars forum, the hobbits are being slaughtered by THEE ALLIANCE. You could render more fighting images for the render wars forum. After all, a sworn declaration of war is out on tolkien/hobbits.
