Subject: Render status bar does nothing on BIG renders P4PP

Hi, I'm running Pro pack and P5 on a Pentium4 2.6Ghz 1Gb ram. (XP Home) Recently when I go to render an image that covers the entire scene the render status bar pops up but does nothing. I see my HD light go mad for a few seconds and then just the occasional blip. I've tried leaving it for a few hours but still nothing. Task manager says that Poser is still responding but even hitting cancel doesn't let me back to continue my work. I've installed the memory patch but that hasn't helped either. The scene I'm rendering is pretty big but I would have thought my machine to be capable of pulling a render off. Example scene. SARDL7 components (1 corner from the main pack and a console from the new expansion) Uzilites Liquid Halo, V3 with most morphs and a couple of low poly props. Am I asking too much or do I have a problem with my system? Thanks.

Weird coincidence. I'm rendering a very similar scene (RDL7 Floor and Gate with Liquid Halo). I can get the thing to render but the background looks very pixellated, even when I increase all the render quality options to maximum. Well, that's not quite true, because it won't acutally render with everything on max. It does exactly the same as you described. My render window is 1600 x 1200. I'm running P5 on a 1800 Athlon, 1 GB RAM, 120 GB HD with over 60 GB free.

Take a look in your Poser folder and delete the Posertemp file in there. That particular file seems to play havoc with Poser's performance.

I would try a firefly pro render with default settings. Add shadows and disp. bounds if needed and set desired renderwindow. You can sometimes cancel out of firefly(longer loadtime) but never pp4(draft or pro) Also bucket size down to 16.
