Hi all...

For those who didn't BM the thread where JimBurton and FyreSpirit's new discovery of JCM Control Morphs was discussed, I have an announcement!

Hogsoft Crosstalk uses the principles described by JB to enable you to control crosstalk between figures so you can stop unwanted crosstalk between figures and apply crosstalk where needed so clothing items can follow the FMB and JCM morphs of their associated figure.

Currently Crosstalk is in beta, and is working for Poser 4 and Pro Pack only. Crosstalk also employs some interesting new technologies such as P4PyE (Poser 4 Python Emulation) and an all-new library browser which is PBooost aware. There's some more information at my site, including a Crosstalk forum where you can download the utility and post your comments.

Feel free to download it and try it out!

Howard:))

Oh man - I wish I understood enought English (Poser tec. talk?) to understand this :-) What is crosstalk?

Will you working on a P5 version too? Because that's what I would need.

Hehe... I was hoping you wouldn' ask that!
Crosstalk is the "P4 bug" which was "fixed" in Poser 5...
If you have more than one similar figure in a scene, the Full Body and Joint Controlled morph settings of one will affect both figures while those of the other figure won't work at all.
Under Poser 5, the FMB and JCM dials of the figures don't crosstalk, but neither do the morphs of an underlying figure affect those of it's clothing!

With CT, the crosstalk between figures and clothes can be "fixed" so figures don't crosstalk with other in Poser 4, and clothes can be made to follow the morphs of the underlying figure.

Re: P5 Python... Yes!! In fact, the program will work almost automatically with Poser 5 and Python when I've written that bit! Proposed operation under Python...
1:Select the clothing item to load and the figure num of the figure which is to control it's morphs
2:The clothing will be imported automatically and the controller pose applied with no need to apply the pose yourself. At the moment, CT is hardwired to think Pro Pack is Poser 4 and so work with it in a non-Python fashion.

Howard, I used the link you supplied, and got a message saying the page had no data, or something like that. I entered your URL directly, and got the page. So I'm including the correct link to your site here. If I understand correctly, people can experience Crosstalk in Poser 5 if they load all the morphs into more than one Vicki 3, etc. Of course my solution would be to just load the morphs we need. The other problem I've heard of is that some clothing relies on Crosstalk to work, and of course, that won't work in Poser 5.

Bobbie, We need to be careful with the term "crosstalk", it's been used in Poser to cover more than 1 thing. The crosstalk that Hogsoft Crosstalk addresses follows Jim Burton & FyreSpiryt's latest discovery and addresses the "classic crosstalk" that we all know and hate. The similar symptoms in Daz Generation 3 figures and any other figures that use readscript injection, is actually a different phenomenon, with a different root cause, and although the symptoms are similar in effect, the method of avoidance is very different. The fix to readscript injection was discovered by Maveris, for which I coined the term Figure Independent Injection or FII, and is quite a bit more complex than the classic crosstalk fix Howard is currently beta testing.

Wow, I'm getting an education here. I'm looking forward to spending some time with the new Crosstalk fixer once I understand it.

Layingback, do you have a link to the fix you talked about for FII? I have had this problem with multiple Daz figures in a scene and the only solution I knew of was to save the characters to the library, which can be a pain...

Karen,

The only fix at the moment requires significant editing - simple edits, but many, many files to edit. The details are at the link provided.

However, I have reasons to believe that one of the future Hogsoft utility products, building on this new technology that Howard's mentioned (and some of which is still being finished ;-), could be an FII utility! However I know that there are a couple of other exciting things ahead of it. Crosstalk being one of them.

And with corresponding enhancements to PBooost to let you switch between normal and FII injection as you need/want, FII could be just as easy to use as the current injection method.
