Yuck, just finished doing that about a month ago myself... Had to deal with Best Buy, which was a trial and a half. Really. I almost went to trial. Kept charging me for fees that didn't exist, kept screwing up my address and sending me my equipment months late... God, my father and I were on the phone for more than five hours and talked to people speaking several different languages... Anyway, it's nice to see you back! Happy rendering!
there is a limit to burned CD's?..dang, I've got 102 already..must not be there yet..don't feel bad, my hard drive at work died, and I'm a PC tech (see, it happens to us, too..we just get more angry because we know better what we shoulda done..;) Thank heavens the other two are ok..touch wood..;)
I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit
anahl nathrak uth vas betude doth yel dyenvey..;)
Having passed through an install on a new disk recently, I feel for you. I hate installations. And I'll have to install everything on my girlfriend's comp, because her hard disk was in the last death throes and had to be replaced. Fortunately, they saved the data. If you ever downloaded the freebies I had here, I'll send them to you.

Lol, oh Best Buy...I got paid because of their mistake, or at least one employees mistake.
Long story short;
My buddy takes his PC to Best Buy, "its not working", he says. "Go shop while we LOOK at it", they say.
He shops, and comes back in 15 mintues. "Hey, we got it to work", they say. "How did you get it to work?", he asks.
And the employee, with a smile on his face...states, "I erased the hard drive and reinstalled Windows"...
Everything lost...e-mails, irreplaceable family photos, everything. They never asked, never said anything, they just did it.
He brought it to me, I ran software recovery on it, recovered all his photos, most of his mp3's, and only a few of his txt/doc files (he's a fellow screenwriter)
He then took his PC back to Best Buy...with his LAPD Police Officer uniform on (Did I mention he's LAPD?) Needless to say, they were listening to his complaint...
I forgot what they gave him/did for him, but they tried to make up for it.

Well, I wouldn't take that ONE employee at ONE store as the litmus test for all Best Buys, lol. At least now none of my friends ever go anywhere but me to fix/build their PC's. ;o0 AS

It's amazing what a shield will do, let alone showing up with the rest of the ensemble (draw your own inference). It's a shame, Joe Blow should get the same consideration and professionalism that a guy in uniform gets. Personally, if I were a store owner, the cop or the fireman would go to the front of the line, right behind the grandmother/grandfather, priest, etc. But no special deals... everyone would get the best service regardless...
ROTFL, I take it best buy must be like PC world in the UK, you can have hours of fun asking them difficult questions that they can never answer.
Although my favourite was a friend went in to get a new laptop, needed it there and then as he was shipping out to germany.
Mate: "Don't bother trying to sell me your extended warranty, I'm not interested"
Sales Dude: "I have to tell you about it, it's the law!"
Man I was hurting from laughing so much, if I could have kept a photo of my mates face....

Haven
t been around lately. My hard drive went belly up and I lost the lot. Had quite a few files backed up but my Bryce,Poser and 3d model folder was over 40gb and there
s a limit to how much you can keep on cd so it was a case of searching the web to find all those freebies and progs that I like. Got it almost how I like it and Windows went AWOL so I had to re install and start again.Won
t happen again, though. I raided the piggy bank and now I
ve got 2 external drives and a DVD writer. Ive got more back ups than a blocked sewage pipe. And lots of spare HD space. :o) And an empty piggy bank ;o( All I have to do now is get some enthusiasm to actually use it. I
m sick of looking at my PC screen at the moment, but it`ll come.Be back posting soon.
