THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: How do you....

Selectively anti-alias an object? I know I've read in some thread that you can select objects 'not' to be anti-aliased, but it seems I didn't pay close attention to how this was done, because I'm scratching my head on how to do it, help please? pretty please?...=)

Select the item and click on their Attributes, then while holding down Ctrl+Shift, click on the check mark to close the dialog.

god i hope daz gets rid of all these silly mac-loving shortcuts... or at least writes all of them down somewhere. drac

Quest ( ) posted Mon, 11 October 2004 at 4:40 AM

Yes Drac, I agree. I was hoping that Bryce 5.5 or 6.0 would incorporate them into the GUI for easy access.

And maybe in the new features there will be the option to decide what amount of AA you can give to the single object...

Hey you guys complain about the shortcuts, try holding down the crtl+shift key and using a mouse at the same time when you only have one hand you can use.

Quest ( ) posted Mon, 11 October 2004 at 9:09 AM

LunarTick, that's got to be a tough act. I'm surprised they haven't addressed that accessibility limitation of having to hold down several keys at the same time yet for the challenged.

jedswindells ( ) posted Mon, 11 October 2004 at 10:04 AM

I recently had to ask the same question and have tied it out a few times,it only works for regular(normalAA).

pakled ( ) posted Mon, 11 October 2004 at 10:49 AM

There's actually a PDF of all the keyboard shortcuts out there..but I'm at work, and don't have it..:|

ICM's got it with that link. I printed it off some time ago, has all the Keyboard commands,Shortcuts and Easter eggs. The 24 pages of it is the first section in my Bryce stuff folder. Cheers GG.

LunarTick, have you tried sticky keys? I know the option is on XP, not sure about other OS. I used to work with a guy who had had a stroke and could only use one hand and got around his problems OK with sticky keys.

drawbridgep i haven't even heard of sticky keys, only sticky keys i know of is when i eat something sticky and do some typing at the same time ;)

drawbridgep ( ) posted Mon, 11 October 2004 at 9:19 PM

So many reasons for sticky keys. Glad you picked a clean one ;-) Hit your shift key 5 times.

( god i hope daz gets rid of all these silly mac-loving shortcuts... or at least writes all of them down somewhere. ) Bet you didn't like playing hide & seek as a child....lol ( it only works for regular normal AA ) That's because Super and Premium render settings do not make an AA pass. ( notice super & premium render settings does not say Anti Aliasing, on the final pass, like normal AA mode does ) ( And maybe in the new features there will be the option to decide what amount of AA you can give to the single object... ) Using Super mode and setting Rays Per Pixel, is as close as it gets right now.

Zhann i like the image but i can see one fault with it. some of the rocks in the ring need to look rough on the edges and surace other than that great job on it.

pogmahone ( ) posted Tue, 12 October 2004 at 3:14 AM

hmmnnnn...don't agree with you LunarTick, I'm an authority on these matters as I watch Star Trek. ;^) I'm guessing that the planetary ring has been formed from the rocks bumping into each other, and fragments breaking off, so the rocks'd be smooth. Our moon has become pretty smooth from orbiting the earth.

Zhann ( ) posted Tue, 12 October 2004 at 3:37 AM

Some rings are entirely dust, but I guess at some point they may have been rocks that collided and eventually chipped themslves into smaller smoother rocks, and after centuries into dust..... I try to do as much research as possible when delving into a new genre, then incorporate the knowledge into the image, but you are entitled to your opinion, and I respect that...I'll keep it in mind on newer ring formations...=)

"god i hope daz gets rid of all these silly mac-loving shortcuts" -Most likely in Bryce 6.0 I like this space/sci-fi direction you're going in Zhann. ;o) AS

Sticky Keys doesn't work very well with some combinations. For example Alt-click required to access the "good" trees. I bought a bunch of Scott Tucker's trees and you have to use Alt-click to on the Tree icon to find them on your hard drive and load them into your scene. Because Sticky Keys doesn't allow me to do that, I had my brother load each tree for me and then I saved the scene. So now I have files such as willow.br5, etc.
