Subject: Goodbye Cruel World.........................*jumps*

JordyArt ( ) posted Mon, 11 October 2004 at 4:21 PM · edited Mon, 29 July 2024 at 5:35 AM

Back in November 2000 I put my first picture up in the Bryce gallery at Rosity. Within a week or so I was in the Photography forum getting to know the people in there. The mod was a great artist called Syyd. There was a guy called Fred, some nutty tart called Michelle, a Canadian called Ry, some perv called Brian, an ozzie called Punksy, Starshuffler....other cuties.... jeez, I could go on. Way back then we used to sit into the nights in the chat room, really got to know each other and had a great laugh. You knew when it had been a good night coz you had discussed the dawn coming up in 3 different time zones. OK, you can't see that, but check out the forum archives from back then - you'll see that even I am tame now compared to everyone then! Anyways, that fun really doesn't here exist any more - the tone really needs to lighten up some. I didn't think I'd say this in a hurry, but it isn't fun enough to be here, and I'm saying goodbye. It's not coz of my recent posts, it's coz the combination of people aren't the same, and I preferred the way it was back then. I suppose it's like being used to driving a limo and having to trade it in for a pushbike. OK, maybe a VW Beetle. To those few who care, sorry. I've about summed it up there. You've been great friends, and great to know as individuals. I am indebted to you for being there for me a couple of years back. Without you guys being there for me then, I wouldn't be here at all now. To those who don't care: that's ok. (o_O) <^> Goodbye. (",)

Your kidding me!!! Jordy what are you talking about? NOW??? Don't tell me you are bummed that no one joined you in the chat? AND by the way you didn't respond to my IM. :-P Man you gotta relax and calm down. Bsteph

I'll miss your sense of humor. But I see what you mean.

soloshado ( ) posted Tue, 12 October 2004 at 1:26 AM

I too will miss your spirited debate...even though you do get kinda torqued up...lol...I do too sometimes...I wish you all the best Jordy...I know exactly what you mean when you mention the group of friends you had...those are the memories we cherish the most. I am sorry I didn't get a chance to know you better. Your Art is topline...Raz

This has been bothering me all day & felt I needed to say something else...

"...that fun really doesn't here exist any more - the tone really needs to lighten up some... but it isn't fun enough to be here"

ok... if you feel this forum is no longer fun, maybe you could suggest some ways to make it fun... the mods & coordinator are volunteers & have their own lives to live (as do you all), we will try our best to make this a fun & learning forum but it takes more then us to do this... this is your forum too...

"the combination of people aren't the same..."

it's a shame that it's not the way it was... but people move on & the gallery has multiplied 10 times since then which also needs to be supported & monitored...

it would help if we could continue being supportive & not detrimental while we are undergoing this transition of team members...

I do hope this is taken in the spirit it is given & I realize this may be just "poor timing" on your part... so do take care Mike :]

cynlee ( ) posted Tue, 12 October 2004 at 1:52 AM

...we are grateful to those like Sydd & Michelle & Misha & past members who have contributed & made the forum, resource center, community page & gallery what they are today (even if is "no fun" for you anymore)

we also have the weekly "Last Week in the Gallery", monthly challenge & archived pages of, quarterly banner contest, Gallery of the Month, & tutorials that are already in place

certainly room for more ideals :]

I can see where Jordy is coming from: I have the same feeling about places on the net that I've frequented. And I don't have any answer. But places can change again...

TMGraphics ( ) posted Tue, 12 October 2004 at 5:51 PM

I kinda see what you mean JA, I have been with Renderosity through 3 owners and have watched the changes myself. Some good, some bad, but not what it used to be. Still, I will continue to browse around and learn and share, and maybe once in I may even help someone. Maybe you could take a "week off" and pop in after that and see how you feel, sure would hate to loose your wit!! Cheers! Thomas ~TMGraphcis

Tedz ( ) posted Tue, 12 October 2004 at 6:21 PM

Perhaps You would Read the Thread that started all this rubbish...it is sort of conveniently forgotten...Titled " Mikey stirs it up again.........." instead of giving this Your Sympathy...I believe the Person in Question can dish it out...but does not like to receive it back....and, those that endorse Him...do NOTHING for the good of the Forum.....My 2 Cents worth again. Cheers....Tedz :]

This place will be fun if the Members make it fun. The best thing we can do is support our new Staff, deemarie and cynlee. If you have great ideas, I am sure they can use your help. It is very easy for folks to charge ahead with trying to get their points across, and lose site that we are talking about valuable friends -who need to be smacked once and awhile. I'm truthfully not sure if I will be around as Moderator much longer. In my real job and personal life I already have enough folks telling me I screwed up, and they are not happy with my work. I don't need more of this in my "hobby" life. But for at least a little while cyn and dee will need some help in implementing their great ideas. So, to support them, please try to play nicely together.

I do not like to see anyone leave an interactive website, a forum or chat roomunless that person is belligerent all the time, abrasive and unproductive for others. Yet, I have left several sites simply because of other issues. Interest waned or interest grew in another direction. Folks, that happens. As for Rosity, this place became part of my Internet fairly recently within a couple of years ago. I did not go to chat and didnt know it existed! Yet, the site offers so much! Yes, for a intermediate(I suppose that is close to correct definition) in what I do in photos and a raw beginner in Poser even having the program since the first month version 5 was issued.Rosity is INVALUABLE, meaning I cannot put a price on the good this place has given me in honesty, critique and applause when deserved. I have learned more than possible by myself and the learning curve has been easy with the comments and superb renderings of others from which to learn. I am not here for the friendships. Yes, I do consider many my unseen friends and respect them for their works and opinions of my work. That is the nutshell encasing the value here for me. This is a place for me to trust, overall. Too many websites simply do not live up to that basic standard of honesty and acceptance of the novice along with accolades to the accomplished. In all, there is much to see and enjoy in graphic and written form beyond ones personal direction. In ones personal direction (mine is yet undefined) there is so much to gain and friendly and yes, some very funny characters to meet on the path. Leave a site? That is personal choice. To give up what is offered is also personal choice. We all grow up and sometimes grow stale. We can grow as well to find more maturity in our directions. Entertainment? Yes, that is here but not in a specific way. I do plan to stick with Rosity. I wish any who may leave the best in their personal quests and a fruitful and pleasant time. Thanks for hearing a comment from one who was not on the chat some time ago. God Bless and Peace to All. TomDart. PS. Tedz, like the face! Where did you get that mug in the first place? Huh?

JordyArt ( ) posted Fri, 15 October 2004 at 1:45 PM

Firstly, I am going to apologise unreservedly to the new Mod team for saying the forum is no fun. I chose the wrong wording and should have stated that the mix of people in the forum no longer make it a fun place for me personally. I have no doubt at all at their ability to maintain this forum as being one of the most popular and fair forums on the net. I haven't been bribed or blackmailed into saying that, it's how I honestly feel. Tedz - please, feel free to use my name. I am at a loss as to your sudden anti-Mike stance, and want you to know I'm still not anti-Tedz. I have to admit that I do find your comments upsetting on a personal level. I've spent some f***** happy times at this forum, am leaving it after MUCH thought, and find it DEEPLY insulting that you consider it to be "rubbish". As for me and those who endorse me doing nothing good for the forum, I'm more than proud to say I've come up with quite a few viable and fun ideas that, along with the ideas and actions of people of previous years, helped to get this forum where it is now. Ok, maybe I didn't bring aliens into every subject, but I introduced the idea of us all posting pictures of ourselves in threads to see what each other was like and one of our most popular things, the idea of doing something which ended up being Guppo's Travels. On quite a few occassions YOU yourself have been a supporter and co-conspirator in quite a few of my posts, so you are saying that you do no good for the forum? I honestly can't understand your scathing attacks - which bring down the tone of the post in exactly the way you accuse me of doing!!! As for being someone who can 'give but not take' you know yourself that isn't true - if it was I wouldn't have lasted the first 2 weeks in here. The 'Mikey Stirs' post WAS NOT what made me decide to leave. If you hadn't noticed, I had been absent for a few weeks prior, mainly because I didn't know if I wanted to be here. My return was to decide if that absence was to become a bit longer-lasting. (NOTE : That was also PRIOR to any changes in the Mod Team, so that DID NOT affect my decision at all.) As a final bit, I know that the Mod's will do a great job. The way some have reacted to my statement is one of the things that made me realise just how badly I had stated what I did. After all, the mods now learnt from the mods previous, so they had good teachers, just as they will go on to teach the next mods in years to come. Let's face it, my humour doesn't fit in with the people here today. I agree with Michelle, sometimes I cut close to the bone. I guess the problems set in when my humour is misinterpreted, and that's probably because the 'tone of intent' doesn't carry over in text. I'm not going to change, nor am I going to act different to how I am, so I'm quitting (maybe not while I'm ahead) before anyone takes real offense. The Oldies will know that deep down my heart actually DOES work, and I sincerely mean it when I say I'll miss being here. Take care all of you. (",)

Tedz ( ) posted Fri, 15 October 2004 at 2:44 PM

And...to emphasis I am sincere, I apologise...twice, and in the real World I am a bit rash also....so...I am, sorry Jordy.
