Subject: Graphite Bullets - British TV show Ultraviolet

I know we have a pretty diverse population here at renderosity so I thought I would throw this out. There was a British Tv mini series that was released back in 1998 called Ultraviolet. I have never seen it but was told about it. I noticed on a website that they said they used "graphite bullets" against the vampires creatures...my question to anyone that has seen this, did they ever give a reason why graphite was lethal or did they just run with it. Also if anyone that didn't see the show know of a reason Graphite would be lethal to vampires I would be curious to know. Thanks Japes

the idea was, to kill a vampire you stake 'em. carrying around a lot of stakes is kinda problamatic when your an undercover Unit. so.. they used compressed charcoal/graphite bullets so they could stake 'em fast and without fuss. well, until the damn things would explode and take out the immediate 10 feet or so.. another innovation was the camera system. vampires in Ultraviolet would'nt show up in mirror's, on video feeds or on microphones. so, attached to the guns they used was a small camera and videoscreen. the idea being a mortal would show up on the screen if the gun was pointed at them, a vampire would just show the background.. Ultraviolet was a bloody interesting and deep show (I ahve them on DVD) shame they never made a 2nd series :(

Thanks, I heard nothing but good things about it. Supposedly they made a pilot episode here in the US based off of your 6 episodes but it never got made into a series. I have contemplated getting the DVD's also just b/c it looked good but some times I have trouble understanding the dilects.

"Ultraviolet" was actually shown on SciFi, and I believe it was shown in its entirety. It was pretty excellent. RC

I really liked that show, so of course it sank without trace. ~lol~

slinger- sounds like you have the same curse as my wife...everytime she finds a show she really likes it disappears.
