Hello, As we continue to work towards making Renderosity a wonderful place to shop we have enhanced the Gift System to make purchasing gifts for your friends and fellow members much easier.

When you visit your Shopping Cart and have a product added you will be presented with a new input field for a gift recipient. If you wish to purchase any of the items in your Shopping Cart as a gift for any member simply add their exact member name to the field and click the Submit! button.

When you check out the item will be purchased as a gift for the member.

Thats all there is to it.
We hope you enjoy this new feature.

Best regards,
The staff at Renderosity

I'm sorry, but I HATE this feature.
If I'm going to buy a gift for someone, it's most likely going to be from THEIR wishlist, not mine.

My wishlist page is full enough without having all this extra stuff on it - is there going to be any way to have the feature as an option instead of permanently?

I really can't see what was wrong with the old gift system of choosing an item from the recipients W/L and putting in my cart as 'a gift for xxxx'

I got quite excited when I saw the title of this topic (no life!) as I thought it would be something REALLY useful like being able to add a message when sending a gift.

Sorry to be a sourpuss!

"I really can't see what was wrong with the old gift system of choosing an item from the recipients W/L and putting in my cart as 'a gift for xxxx'"

We had a LOT of mis-purchased gifts with the other method.

The Gift box on the products promotional page seemed to be very hard for a lot of members to use and caused a lot of gift purchase problems.

"is there going to be any way to have the feature as an option instead of permanently?"

No.

I think it's a nice idea! :-) But I have a question... why do items in my public wishlist show up with this info as well? These are supposed to be gifts for me! ROFL! I can't really see anyone putting something on their public wishlist to be purchased as a gift for someone else... would they? ...or is that a bug? (you know I like to find them lol it's second nature!) Caro

;-) While we're on the wishlist... I'd love it if there was the option to sort items, like by price and by merchant or maybe oldest to newest. My list is a couple miles long and it gets hard finding stuff in there sometimes. Just thinking out loud... Caro

I would like for there to be an option box (like there is on the message page) to delete multiple items or move multiple items to shopping cart or to public wishlist (since when you click to go to the wishlist it goes directly to private). This would be less of a hassle (right now you have to do it one at a time). Most of the people put items on their wishlist for their own benefit, not really as gifts for others (did you take into consideration that if the person did want to buy it for someone else that the person may already have the item?)!! Good idea, but I agree, a little too cluttering!!

ROFL! laetia: this is partly what I meant - thanks for getting things clarified! I just hope that the people who seemed to have a problem with the 'Buy this item as a gift for xxx' button (or whatever the wording was) can manage to spell/copy & paste correctly ;)
