Subject: Vue 5 Pro Wishlist

Dear Santa (sorry e-on), What I want from Vue 5 PRO.... 1) Improved volumetric lighting, especially using transmapped alpha planes/materials. 2) Improved poser imports... Currently there are issues with the import in Vue4/Pro with two figures in a PZZ with identical material names.. It only imports one (4Espirit) or uses the same material for all (pro). It would not be hard to assign material names as figureName:materialName. 3) Post Render blur processing, the ray tracing one is ok, but if takes A LOT of time to get it right.. It would be nice to render your image (and faster) and use depth mapping, etc using post filters... and yes you get the depth map from the render, but it would be easier to do it in the Vue.. (See Carrara) 4) Enhanced tree editor... Need multiple leaf nodes to allow greater realism, and the ability to add objects (ie fruits and flowers...) 5) All the lighting effects from Vue 5 Espirit (Radiosity, HDRI) 6) Cartoon rendering engine. 7) Enhanced Caustic effects 8) Weather system (Rain, Snow, Lightning, etc...) 9) Particle effects (explosions, etc..) 10) DEFORMERS.... Ripple, Wave, Bulge, Pinch, etc... (Maybe even a Magnet deformer...) 11) Greater selection of content... Especially plants and materials. Cheers...

Oh... 12) P5 import enhancements: Single frame dynamic cloth/hair (without mover) and full support of P5 shader nodes...

I have a couple of ideas to imprive upon the current changes in Vue 5 : - ability to rotate the HDRI envelope in the sky (that is, rotate the sky around the scene). - improved volumetric materials (especially that issue with the boundaries of a spheric or cubic enveloppe being visible)

  1. Correct Xfrog plant import. It's a shame that even Vue 5 Esprit is not able to import the information correctly.

1 The ability to render low poly objects with a displacement map, so you can have very complicated scenes looking like they where made with high poly objects :-) 2 Fluid dynamics, ie the ability to create realistic rivers, lakes etc 3 Weather particles (snow/rain), animateable

most of what you guys have mentioned + video import so we can use real video as textures and on alphaplanes. to me 1 video import 2 a better solidgrowth engine 3 weather fx (particle engine) would be the most important extras on top of the vue4 pro and vue5 esprit features.

oh I forgot about planets... I tried to do an image using a "daytime" atmosphere and it rendered as a big white spot... Sometimes you want to do a picture with a planet or moon during daytime... And it would be nice to have the ability to change the texture..

Particles are the way to go for weather effects...

BUT... real 3D particles will be a huge system hog in large scenes with lots of objects, where you need hundreds of thousands/millions of particles to cover an area convincingly. This is probably why most landscaping apps like Bryce and Vue don't use particles for weather effects... when you do large, scenic views, you'd need too many particles to pull it off. However, for tight shots, or close-ups, then it's an unbeatable solution.

A 2D/3D "hybrid" particle solution like you can find for such video FX apps like AfterEffects or Combustion might work extremely well without taxing system resources too much. Or perhaps the choice to use a volumetric solution to weather as well, for larger scenes.

I stand corrected, it seems WorldBuilder has a good solution to weather FX using particles which can interact with environment objects, etc. in large scenes. I'm not a WorldBuilder user, so I'm not pushing the product, but the link above is to a video tutorial on how they do it, and it seems Vue Pro should be more than capable of this as well.

Definately have to agree with the other wishlist items, I'd also like to add: -Better pine trees and grasses, like what is available with xfrog (which I still can't afford to buy at the moment) And when I say pine trees I'm not talking about little wimpy christmas trees (that have been around since Vue 2), I'm talking about tall giant douglas firs and trees you'd find in an actual forest in the Pacific Northwest. -Real puffy clouds have been on Vue users wishlists for ages, I don't care how it's done, particles or volumetric materials, just something that can simulate (realistically) the big thunderhead clouds you see every once in a while. -Variable fog, so that it will gather in one spot and not in another, not just an overall blanket of fog like we have now, I think this would be really easy to do by simply adding a function editor to the fog settings. -Realistic water that actually reacts to land it abuts (like in terragen) would be really nice, you can create some pretty nice looking waves using terrains but they still don't react to other objects. That's all I can think of at the moment, that said I'm very happy with the improvements they have already made to Vue 5 Esprit and look forward to potentially sidegrading to Vue 5 Pro if the additional features are worth it.

Displacement map support ! I even sent you guys a link and asked for this in Vue 5. Z-Brush Displacement map support !!!!!!!! Can you beleive this didn't end up on the official list set to E-On. It's a MUST!

It's a MUST!" Wow. Yeah, support for micropoly displacement is a big thing nowadays. I agree, that's a must-have. It's funny, because that's the one thing Poser 5's rendering engine does VERY well, and yet there seems to be very few people taking advantage of it in the Poser community. Sad.

I really would like to see a weather system - with rain, snow, lightning. And a way to make realistic falling water.

Ditto on the Water, Weather effects. XFOG import would be nice unless Pro has better trees/foilage. Photoshop file import would also be useful
