Does anybody know a good source of pre-fabricated sets, or environments for Poser? There are props galore but I can't find too many complete sets. Looking for both commercial and free ones. Konan

I believe that these are the only sources for complete sets, but my url has changed to this: http://pdblake.brinkster.net (just registered a couple of domain names too, so it will change again soon:)

Not true pdblake, Stormrage also has a bedroom and living room/dining room set for sale. stormrage@zdnetonebox.com Marque

Sorry:) forgot about those, they're quite good too.

pdblake, Have you thought about doing a castle main hall? You know, with the huge fireplace and the huge table in the center of the hall, with entryways and windows on the sides, maybe stairs going up, and a huge entry at one end? 8^) You're so good at the castle stuff, I think it would be a great model. Working on a full scale castle rights now, drawbridge, interior buildings, additional sets, the works. It may take a while though (won't be ready before Christmas). I have a few smaller projects to keep me going in between the stages of the castle though.

pdblake ( ) posted Fri, 24 November 2000 at 1:53 PM

I suppose I could do a few of the interior sets first though and release the castle when it is finally finished. Ok fire some ideas at me:)

Marque gets out her gun..oh..wait..ideas! lol

There are some great prefab castle parts by Renapd at Poserworld. I think they're hers. Also Lannie's site 3D Model world also has a few interesting sets, I think they're Bryce, but I'm not sure.

artnik ( ) posted Fri, 24 November 2000 at 2:00 PM

The Poserworld castle sets have interiors in it.

Nance ( ) posted Fri, 24 November 2000 at 9:08 PM

And don't forget about the Enviornments section at 3D Cafe. They've still got that chem lab, church, attic, etc. ...Has anyone ever converted any of these to work directly in Poser?

ARCHITECT ( ) posted Sat, 25 November 2000 at 8:23 AM

I've made some for BBay's... There will be a very big castle and a roman arena soon but it won't be ready before christmas

Let me know immediately when you have them ready ARCHITECT. If they kick ass, I will be your first customer. Will the polygon count be moderate? I plan on using them for animation purposes, so too many polygons will result is relly slow rendering times. Konan

ARCHITECT, Will you castle be including the "interior?". There a a million external castles, but few interiors. Konan

pdblake ( ) posted Sat, 25 November 2000 at 12:27 PM

Already on the interiors, the great hall should be finished anyday now.

hey pdBlake, Can you post a few pics of the WIP? Konan

pdblake ( ) posted Sat, 25 November 2000 at 12:41 PM

I'm just about finished, I'll post some pics on Monday or Tuesday:)

I think the castle will be fully textured - inside and outside. There are four towers, a wall, houses... I don't know if it will be a set of single props - depends on the size of the file in Poser. I will not include furniture - I think it's better if you can add/use your own furniture props. As you can see in my "haunted house" I'll try to model my props as detailled as I can in every single room.

OK heres a quick render. The actual hall is finished (just needs a little tweaking), but it needs furniture and some additional props (a few more banners, candle holders, feasting table, a fire to go in the fireplace etc). I'll probably do these as an extra set, so look out for this in the next couple of days.

Ihawk ( ) posted Sun, 26 November 2000 at 10:25 PM

I've been working on a very detailed, huge castle too. Check the archives for some older pics. It's come a long way since then, with full interior rooms, openable doors, etc. Should be done in about a month or two.

Maz ( ) posted Mon, 27 November 2000 at 2:12 PM

I've been thinking for a while of doing a utility that would allow you to create a room to whatever specification took your fancy. I envisage a library of doors and windows (that you or others could add to) and a question and answer interface that would ask you things like: 1. How many walls? (Not such a dumb question, you might just want two walls like a TV set, 'cos you hardly ever see more than two walls at a time anyway. 2. Size of room, length, width, height. 3. Number of doors in first wall? 4. Number of windows in first wall? 5. Thickness of walls? 6. Should wall/ceiling/floor be transparent from outside? And so on. I envisage that you'd be ablr to create dungeons, bedrooms, factories or whatever, the basic room shape bing created from answering the questions, and the doors, windows, alcoves, beams, furniture and textures being selected from libraries. I haven't yet charged for any of my priops or utilities but I'd probably make that my first pay-to-use tool. Would anybody be interested? I'd make the library format available to all so anybody could add to it.

pdblake ( ) posted Mon, 27 November 2000 at 2:23 PM

Sounds good to me Maz, but will it be Poser compatible?

Maz ( ) posted Mon, 27 November 2000 at 4:51 PM

Definitely.

ARCHITECT ( ) posted Tue, 28 November 2000 at 1:36 AM

...sounds to me like a CAD-program? for my props I'm using one of those programs (you definitely don't know it and it's really easy to use) - the only difficulty is to transform the textures for Poser (I have to use VRML-export for 3DSMax and then export it to Poser in 3DS)

pdblake ( ) posted Tue, 28 November 2000 at 12:27 PM

Architect, what is it you use, I personally make most of my rooms and buildings actually in poser, with only a few extra bits and pieces made in raydream or truespace (v2).

ARCHITECT ( ) posted Tue, 28 November 2000 at 1:24 PM

there are some different CAD-programs here on my machine(german)... SoftTECH Spirit, MB Arcon and FeliX CAD (I think these are available in german language only)

pdblake ( ) posted Tue, 28 November 2000 at 1:27 PM

Your'e right, never heard of them:)

ARCHITECT ( ) posted Tue, 28 November 2000 at 4:49 PM

file_138013.jpg

...just a quick rendering of one of the towers... it's fully detailled inside with stairs etc... there will be four of them in the "final" version (the texture will be changed)
