Subject: Problems with ripping embedded obj files

spamboy ( ) posted Thu, 21 October 2004 at 2:23 PM ยท edited Mon, 10 February 2025 at 5:06 PM

In ripping out the geometries from a PP2 file I get weird results in one of my files. In clicking on the icon in Poser 5, the prop seems to be there (parameter dials, it's listed)but it is invisible. Any help would be appreciated. I've checked { and spaces. everything seems to be OK.

Have you tried to restart Poser? That has helped me sometimes in similar situations.

Bad or missing reference lines to geom file?

restart does nothing. I assume there are lines/spaces missing somewhere. Wondering if anybody knows where I can start looking.

Use text editor to search for 2 lines like this: figureResFile :Runtime:Geometries:foldername:filename.obj If they are missing, add them, after noting where they are located in a functioning file.

Are you ripping out the geometry and saving it out as an OBJ file or are you outputting an OBJ and referencing it ?? This probably isn't your problem, but sometimes when I manually create an OBJ from what I have stripped out of a prop file (cut and pasted into a text file and saved as an obj file) I have to run it through UV mapper...then it shows up. If that isn't it, there are a couple of other things that you can check for. --Rebekah--

I've always found it easier to open the pp2 in Poser, then Export:Wavefront from there. Then go into a copy of the pp2, remove the obj data and add the "figureResFile" line.

Thanks everyone. I got them going. Running them through UV Mapper helped for some strange reason. thanks again. Your help is appreciated.
