Thank you, and please send my regards to Nico.

Oooh, Mimic-ready out of the box. Excellent!

  • digs out DVD copy of Nightmare Before Christmas and starts sampling audio *

Nice work on the new websites, incidentally. I was averaging 180KB/s during the download. Which is kind of scary, considering that I'm only paying my cable provider for 64KB.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Wed, 20 October 2004 at 4:12 AM

L_D, which program do you use for getting audio off a dvd? No matter which one I've tried, my wav files come up empty :o( I'm at my wits end, I NEED some samples from a movie and I can't get them out. Could it be caused by some copy protection thing on the dvd? (It tries to launch a player of it's own) - the dvd in question is the Harry Potter 1 one btw.

"And I guess it's for obvious reasons you didn't spell it Skellington? " Yeah, it was like 3 AM and I wasn't paying attention :) A Sally can be added to the list....the next freebie in line is H.I.M. and then the Predator. --Rebekah-- P.S. Glad to know that the new site is working out better for you. Picked up a dedicated server and that has helped sooooo much.

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Wed, 20 October 2004 at 11:47 AM

L_D, which program do you use for getting audio off a dvd?

The quick-and-dirty version:

I typically use PowerDVD, along with the GoldWave audio utility, but it could also be done with the Sound Recorder applet which is included in Windows, and Media Player Classic.

PowerDVD's audio output is configured to use WaveOut (not DirectSound, SPDIF, or the multichannel options).

In Sound Recorder, pull up the Audio Properties panel from the Edit menu. Click on Volume under Sound Recording. Make certain the Stereo Mixer is selected.

Oooo-kay... Gotta try that L_D.. I've been USING those 2 programs (Soundrecorder and PowerDVD that is) but it didn't work. Perhaps PDVD outputs as direct sound.. haven't checked for THAT.

sweet, you didn't buy chance get the idea from the Nightmare Before Christmas Movie did you? Awsome character.

sixus1 ( ) posted Wed, 20 October 2004 at 1:06 PM

Yes, it is Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas. With that said (as it is on the site and in the readme, but you never can be too safe), it can NOT be used for commercial purposes at all, ever in no way shape or form. --Rebekah-- P.S. Les said that a Sally should be out at Christmas. Might even get her out before the Predator.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Wed, 20 October 2004 at 1:25 PM

I was only thinking of the possibility that Disney wouldn't like a Jack Skellington character running around in Poser.. I wasn't trying to mock you :o) Oooh once again... SALLYYY!! Please! Oh and Zero... and Lock, Shock and Barrel.. And Oogie Boogie.. and the Mayor... and.... and... and...

Gareee is that the one I keep hearing has download problems or something? Sixus I know.....Sixus I trust....and if I understand Rebekah's post correctly, it sounds like their's will be free as well :)

Yep, a Predator. :)

Here is a WIP shot. No where near complete, but it does give you an idea. :) I know that he wanted to do a rework of the feet since he has gotten better reference images. We have a volunteer who wants to help out and do the weapons (yay!). I think that it was decided that the Predator in the WIP has too much 'hair'. Anyway, it will be ready sometime around the end/beginning of the year.

And yes there already is a Predator out there, but Les wanted to make one :)

--Rebekah--

Gareee ( ) posted Thu, 21 October 2004 at 9:17 PM

Yeah, you have to subscribe to a yahoo group currently to get the poser pred, and if you use norton anti virus, it thinks there's a virus in the file, but it works fine, confirmed by many. And you can never have enuff preds.. ;)

sandoppe ( ) posted Thu, 21 October 2004 at 9:22 PM

I agree Gareee ;) Thanks Rebekah....glad Les wanted to make one! He sure got the jaw right! Love the Predator!

Gareee ( ) posted Thu, 21 October 2004 at 9:44 PM

Les.. if you need reference, I recently bought the 12" Mcfarlane pred.. he's VERY well sculpted, and I also bought a new digicam with a supermacro. (I took a pic of a bee, and you could see the pollen on his legs!) I can snap a whole passel o' pics and send em to ya, is need be. Only thing they didn't include, was his friggin helmet!

sixus1 ( ) posted Thu, 21 October 2004 at 9:50 PM

We do have quite a list of images, but one can never have too many. :) --Rebekah--

sixus1 ( ) posted Thu, 21 October 2004 at 9:54 PM

BTW--Garee...our Sixus1.com emails are out of order for the next day or two...so if you need to email Les or myself use either Rebekah@sixus1media.com or llgarner@sixus1media.com --Rebekah--

Gareee ( ) posted Thu, 21 October 2004 at 10:12 PM

Well, LMK if there is any detailing that you need to see. They really did a super job with both the 12" Alien and Pred...

sixus1 ( ) posted Thu, 21 October 2004 at 10:28 PM

I think the area we have the weakest refs for are the feet. Some detail shots of those would be really helpful. -Les

Hi Sixus!!! Its good hear that Sixus1 media are doing a new predator for poser. I have the TBoeken version which is great but it seems to be based on the P4 male(dork) which makes him a little small in stature. any chance this new predator will be larger and more Bulkier?? the average height of their species in the films is 7ft thanks:-)

Ok, just took some pics, and I'll send them to les.. BTW can you fix the "new post" icons on the new poserforum page? The checkmarks don't "light up" when there are new replies, and trying to hunt them down is sorta hard...

sixus1 ( ) posted Fri, 22 October 2004 at 9:34 AM

The New Post icons aren't 'broken'. I don't why they aren't for you. But if you log in, you can use the link for "New Posts Since Your Last Visit". BTW, does anyone have any links to sites with descriptions or reference materials for various 'styles' of Predators ?? --Rebekah--

Gareee ( ) posted Fri, 22 October 2004 at 11:01 AM

I'll have to chjeck again,, but all the check icons are grey, and not colored. .. I can't believe I'm the only one who sees that. (Xp home, sp2 here) A great place for referencing the preds from the AvP movie, is spawn.com.. check out their figure pics for the Avp figures. If you need closer pics of any of them, drop in the toy forum, and just ask.. people are always WAY too willing to post more pics of their collections.. LOL!

sixus1 ( ) posted Fri, 22 October 2004 at 11:19 AM

I don't think that you are logged into the site and that is why the new post icons don't show up for you. --Rebekah--

Gareee ( ) posted Fri, 22 October 2004 at 11:21 AM ยท edited Fri, 22 October 2004 at 11:26 AM

ok, I'll head over, and double check. I'm still logging onto the old link, and following the redirect over to the new pages.. that might be the problem..

Oh, Ask Les if he got the zip of the pics I sent this am...

Edit: Yep, yer right, Reb.. I wasn't logged on. I thought you were still ironing out "growing pains" and didn't bother to mention it, figureing it'd resolve itself sooner or later.. that's why I have been over there much since the move Edit2: Oh, BTW, after seeing your new avatar over there, tell Les he's DAMNED lucky.. you're quite a looker! ;) It's also really nice to "see" the people you re actually writing to. I think I'll be making an avatar of myself as well.

Gareee: "...... you're quite a looker! ;)"

I haven't heard that description in a long time! :) It either betrays your age or the area of the country you're from....not sure which! lol!

Rebekah is "quite a looker"....and so is Les!:)
P.S. Gareee: We'll both look like real fools if those aren't really their pictures!! :)

Yeah, one of our users suggested seeing who we were talking to.

And the growing pains left on the site is me moving the freebies over the to the new sites and editing some old posts for old links.

If anyone is still reading this thread at this point besides Gareee and myself, glad that you liked the Jack Skellington. Les said that the original model was so clean that it was one of the easiest ports to Poser that he has ever done, which is one of the reasons that he was able to spend time experimenting with different ways to acheive the facial morphs. Since the figure was based on a clay figure the morphs had to try to imitate that look.

Okay, this is just WEIRD!!!! Yes, those are really pictures of us. And for the record...everyone looks good with pink hair, in rhinestones and velvet. Trust me :) and Les is just a big ol' bald hunk of man. ;p Anyway, Gareee is in the south, must be where is comes from. Now if he said something about some gams....then he is just old. :) --Rebekah, who will be 30 this Sunday sob, sniff--

Gareee ( ) posted Fri, 22 October 2004 at 11:53 AM

Well, I never mind looking the fool.. I usually set myself up for that anyway! LOL!! Actually, I'm originally from the North (Ohio), but have worked with so many people from so many countries that I never really picked up any accent at all. My "weird superpower" is picking up phrases and terms from just about anywhere.. one of my freinds was always amazing at the bizarre terms I'd come up with. And of course, with browsing the net, I can pick up phrases from gawd KNOWS where!

Rebekah: "......everyone looks good with pink hair, in rhinestones and velvet. Trust me :)" Well....I can guarantee that I would not look good in pink hair, rhinestones and velevet....and you can trust me on that!! :) But then I quit being a "looker" when I was about 18 :) Thirty you say!! Just a baby! :)
