Subject: Smoky Mountains Images...

Hey All! I know I've been a bit quiet for a while, but I just got back from a few days in the Great Smoky Mountains and wanted to share a few pics. The crowds were horrendous, the traffic terrible, but the fall color - fantastic, and the photo-ops never-ending!

First day (late evening), we were going through Cades Cove and ran across this Coyote - it seemed almost as if he was leading the way. This was shot hand-held with a 300mm Nikkor, camera set at 800 ISO (the sucker never gave me a chance to get out and set up a tripod - he never stopped trotting along)

Same guy - he actually stopped for a bit to eat......something (I think it was something that someone else had already eaten...?)

And then, of course, the deer....

...and then, of course, the bear.....(tough to shoot a black bear, in dark woods - when they never stand still...)

...and what are the Smoky Muntains without a bit of "smoke"?

Grumble. Grumble. BLASTED TECHNO PHOTO MASTERS ALLWAYS SHOWING OFF THEIR ABILITIES. =:-) Seriously thought those are some rockin pics. Expecially the second cyote picture and the black bear. I'm not sure I would have the guts to take either of them! Expecially the bear!!!! I've thought of photographing deer but I was told they kick!! Did you get any lumps from 'em. the water fall pics is perfectly dreamy thanks so much for posting. Bsteph

Very nice round of shots!! Couldn't of done better myself. The deer in Cades Cove are practically fearless of humans...the long glasses really help isolate the subjects...and it was worth the traffic jam in the Cove wasn't it!? These advertising shots should bring them out in droves to compete with the locals (lol)
