Subject: Another tip to speed up P5 loading time.

Make use of the nested folders facility. If your Pose library has hundreds of folders, group them in meaningful subfolders. Do this with each library section and you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much faster P5 loads. Apologies if this is old news to anyone; I reorganised my P5 this week and was amazed at the difference in loading time.

Would you please give a specific example to use as a template for doing this.

If I understand your question correctly, here's a screenshot of part of my Pose Library. The red marks indicate a further level down within Pose. The uppermost level shown here is itself one level down from the main Pose folder, where I have left all the DAZ INJ REM poses.

Thanks- I think I understand it.

Another option to try is creating an empty folder and add it to the list of runtimes. Then before you close the program, choose this runtime. When poser next starts, it's not searching through all the libraries. (Worked for me anyway)

The Empty Folder is a great idea for startup but it does not help when you are opening folders later on. I find that the Nested route works best in terms of faster load times, plus I like to know where my stuff is.

I already did this as I'd never used P4 before and i didn't, and still don't understand why people still want to use Additional Runtimes in P5. It's so unnecesary with P5 when you can do this.

Not really thefixer, I have thousands of vicky things By keeping all v3 stuff in it's own runtime and vicky 1/2 stuff in their own. It is much easier to use, another version of nesting really. Plus you can take runtimes off disk, thereby clearing up harddrive space. Plus if you upgraded from p4 (which I did) instead of reinstalling all that content I just linked.

Tirjasdyn, I never used any other version of poser so I wouldn't know how to set up additional runtimes anyway. I have used Folders and sub folders in all the library main folders icluding different ones for V2 and V3 and I find it works great for me. I guess at the end of the day, it's what works best for you that matters! Happy days and long life friend!

I have content installed in D|S but also needed the Poser Content. So rather than moving things around, I point either program to the opposite directory.
