Being as we have to daily flip the nudity flags in the Gallery we thought we would update you all on what is considered as Nudity. What is considered "nudity" in a Renderosity Gallery Image: 1. Humans or humanoid figures without any garments 2. Exposure of the nipple or areola [the dark skin surrounding the nipple] for woman 3. See-through clothing where the breasts [see #2] are exposed for woman 4. Exposure of the pubic region for both men and woman [this includes genitals and pubic hair] 5. See-though clothing where the pubic region [see #4] is exposed for both men and woman 6. Exposure of the bare buttock for both men and woman If an image states, in the title, that it contains nudity: the Nudity Button must also be Engaged! Thanks SndCastie Poser Moderator

6. Exposure of the bare buttock for both men and woman Now that's going to get confusing. It's ok to show bare buttocks on network TV as long as they're separated by dental floss. But remove the floss and you're asking for trouble. Does the same rule apply here? LOL

pakled ( ) posted Tue, 26 October 2004 at 12:54 PM

guess someone needs to make a floss freebie..;) thanks, maybe I won't have to look over my shoulder as much at work any more..;)

well, fortunately, Renderosity is not curently owned by a network tv corporation ;) ...then again, all things must change...

I was wondering about this when I saw that a picture of a fairy was banned from the gallery and yet not that far from where its thumbnail was there was a picture of blatant bondage and fetish, and several pictures that were of a, shall we say, non-hetersexual manner. I don't personally care who does what to who, but if a picture of a fairy is banned why is the rest of this stuff allowed to be shown? Nudity tags I understand and fully endorse as well as the violence tags. I think there should be an "Adult Content" tag as well, but that's just me howling at the moon, and what do I know?

Bobasaur ( ) posted Tue, 26 October 2004 at 1:23 PM

Despite the fact that we all agree that fairies may be centuries old, they often bear resemblence to children. Therefore Renderosity takes a conservative approach, trying to make sure and steer well clear of and child-pornography laws.

Ah, and the rest is ok then...I understand and I thank you for clarifying this for me.

SnowFox102 ( ) posted Tue, 26 October 2004 at 4:37 PM

I, for one, hope this means the tag rule will be enforced more. I haven't browsed the gallery at all lately because of all the adult content. If people wanna do that kinda thing it's not my place to complain, but I don't wanna have to look at it when I'm looking for the comics and dragon pics. x_x

cedarwolf ( ) posted Tue, 26 October 2004 at 5:22 PM

Er, what does FMH mean, please?

JeffAlberts ( ) posted Tue, 26 October 2004 at 6:04 PM

How does this apply to the marketplace where there is no such flag, yet the "Violations" outlined above appear in every other product. Not sure what the big deal about nudity is. Apart from laws, is it even possible for Renderosity to conform to the standards of every community in the US. Hardly.

Khai ( ) posted Tue, 26 October 2004 at 8:07 PM

"1. Humans or humanoid figures without any garments" quick! put a suit on C3PO! also find clothes for the Gorilla! they are humanoid!

JeffAlberts ( ) posted Tue, 26 October 2004 at 8:33 PM

lol, any creature with two arms, two legs, a head a torso, etc in the same basic relationship to each other as humans is humanoid, as far as I know. So all those aliens too...

elizabyte ( ) posted Wed, 27 October 2004 at 1:04 AM ยท edited Wed, 27 October 2004 at 1:16 AM

Bondage, violence of all sorts, fetish stuff, naked Vicki in a temple with a sword and huge silicone boobs, that's all perfectly fine.

Perfectly innocent fairies in the style of Victorian illustrations? No way. Sorry. Banned.

soooo thats humanoid robots, aliens, monkey's, apes, stuffed toys, skeletons... they all now have to wear clothes according to this ;) I'd love an offical ruling on it...

JeffAlberts ( ) posted Wed, 27 October 2004 at 1:10 PM

And again, why does that apply only to the forum? As far as I know there is no way for people simply coming in a browsing can have the option of not seeing nudity (lol, which would exclude 90% of the Poser products). What's the big deal about having to do this in the forum but not in the Marketplace??

ClintH ( ) posted Wed, 27 October 2004 at 1:57 PM

"How does this apply to the marketplace where there is no such flag, yet the "Violations" outlined above appear in every other product." There is a Nudity flag in the MarketPlace. If you have the no nudity flag set in your profile you will get a Content Advisory ICON for products in the MarketPlace that contain nudity. FYI, Clint

Didn't even know that option was there. Still, doesn't seem to be applied very well. While I got a lot of "content advisory" graphics in place of thumbnails I still got a fair amount of boobs all over the place, mainly in the sidebar adverts. I found it odd that http://market.renderosity.com/softgood.ez?ViewSoftgood=32443 this wasn't flagged. Pretty damn close to child porn.

ClintH ( ) posted Wed, 27 October 2004 at 3:00 PM

Thanks for the info Jeff. I have set the nudity flag for that product. We work very hard to make sure the nudity flag is properly set prior to releasing products into the MarketPlace. From time to time one slips in without the flag properly set. The images on the sidebar will also show the Content Advisory ICON if you have the Nudity flag set within your profile and if the Nudity flag is properly set for the specific product ... Question: Where is the flag for the marketplace? I see one for the galleries, which I have unchecked as I can generally avoid the sort of stuff I find disgusting there, but I cannot find the one for the marketplace, where I cannot avoid it no matter what I seem to do. Just curious -- can ya help a poor gal out here?

Why not just do away with the nudity button, and instead replace it with a "kid-friendly" button, with the default condition being that the nudie filters are engaged on an image or item (the "kid friendly" flag turns it off)?

Ynsaen, That one checkbox apparently applies to all galleries, including the marketplace. But you'll find thee are a lot or products that aren't flagged that are pretty freakin obvious. Personally I couldn't care less, it's just that the original message in this thread doesn't make a lot of sense in light of the lack of policing of the marketplace, free stuff, etc.

ynsaen ( ) posted Wed, 27 October 2004 at 3:48 PM

Ah... OK. My bad then. hiya /p! Not a bad idea. While I'm not about to tell anyone wether their store's stuff is pornographic or not, I have very strong personal feelings about certain things, and find that I enter the store less and less as it tends to resemble more and more a Castle megastore. Having seven kids has likely made me a wee bit paranoid. Well, then again, I was born paranoid, so maybe it's creeping delusions of sanity....

cedarwolf ( ) posted Thu, 28 October 2004 at 12:45 PM

Um..what's a Castle Megastore?

ynsaen ( ) posted Thu, 28 October 2004 at 1:14 PM

lol -- well, locally, it is a retail outlet that sells "Adult Entertainment Paraphernailia". Basically, all they sell is stuff that is related directly to sex: enticing it, having it, and, um, making it more creative. They sell lingerie, sexual aides, peculiar lotions, videos and dvds, and stuff that is rather commonly found here in the marketplace. Rather than being a typical "adult bookstore", however, they have tried to classy the place up -- clean, shopper friendly places not unlike any decent smaller retail store (say, Kohl's, Mervyn's, or The Gap) and try to do things tastefully. Their radio and televsion ads are predicated primarily around innuendo, and can be quite amusing. They do not, however, claim artistry in their wares, and when you go there, there is only one reason for it. It's not a place many people frequent or discuss openly, despite doing fairly well (although they did recently have some issues with the owner forgetting to do silly things like pay taxes, and some employee misappropriation of funds, and this odd quirk of being late on their business loans used to expand the chain). There's actually some Poser-created stuff on sale there, as well, lol.
