I managed to take one almost good picture of the total eclipse that's going on right now.

Ran outside as soon as I heard about the eclipse, bout five minutes ago. Anyone interested in some pics of a completely dark, and overcast sky?

Not bad at all, what camera did you use, did you tried shorter exposure time, some digital cameras(if that's what U used) have a lot of noise due longer exposure times ??? :)

Kemal ( ) posted Wed, 27 October 2004 at 10:33 PM

@Xenic: post them please !!! :)

It's a sony DSC-f717. I used a tripod and apature mode and full zoom. I tried the 800 and the 400 film emulation. This is the 400 and I think it looks better. The camera came up with an exposure time of about 4 seconds.

Don't actually have a camera, so I wandered off and rendered one (eclipse not camera).

sounds about right. I was afraid earlier today I would miss it due to clouds. We got soaked in band but the clouds moved off. I took some pictures and will have them developed as soon as possible. I wish I had a nice dgital camera :(

Here's a few more I managed in between the clouds. This is one with the same settings before the thing really started. The face is completely washed out but the clouds are nice.

Here's a last one with the eclipse getting over. I probably need a polarizing filter to keep the light from washing out the image but I liked the halo.

I used my 6.3MP Fuji FinePix S7000 and I will see how it turned out in the Morning but I think the Battery was Low because I saw the same Blue Noise as I was Taking the Shots...

Jaymonjay ( ) posted Wed, 27 October 2004 at 11:46 PM

Saw thw whole thing, start to finish. It was overcast here all day, but the clouds, quite literally, vanished five minutes before the show began. Quite spectacular! :)

How sad am I......read the thread title, opened the thread, saw the top pic, and wondered if electroglyph had used Blend Fuzzy, or two spheres :^(

Others looking better then the first one, these are my settings I usually use when shooting at nite (DSC-F717 here too) Night shots are definetly not easy, manual settings are the best if you have time, and tripod and remote are the must ! :)

I wanted to see this last night and we had absolute and total cloud cover. Very thick cloud cover in facy. Missed the whole thing. 8(
