I'm working on xmas project, so i've six reindeers running with a sleigh with a Santa Claus on. I've for each reindeer, harness and bridle (confermed to reindeer); obviusly when reindeer run all this (harness and bridle) move with it. But i need that some point of this stay freezed: i.e. the last point of bridle because it's in the hand of santa claus. But i don't know how make it... i'm trying with point to and IK, but not working for me... It's very very urgent for me... i hope in a suggest (step by step if it's a difficul way) from you. Thanks. xman

Ok... probably i'm not explained the problem much good. I'm working on chirstmas project. So i have six reindeers that pull the sleigh with Santa Claus. Every reindeer has its harness and bridle (conformed to the reindeer). Now, when i animate the single reindeer the harness and the bridle move together to the reindeer. (and it's correct). But i need that one point of bridle don't move, because it's in the hand of Santa Claus (seated in the sleight). How can i make this ? How can i freeze a piece of props (harness or bridle) to make it not animated when i assign an animated pose to the reindeer ? Thanks. xman

I'm not exactly sure when you say when the raindeer move the bridle moves and you don't want it to. Is the movement you are talking about a sanding in place movement, or are they moving up and down and forward as though it is flying. or running in place then here is my sugguestions. 1st, does your bridle itself morph so it can be bent back into Santas hands. just morph the bridle!(I guess the answer must be no). The sencond is a little more involved. something I don't know is, are the bridle seperate or of one piece.(attached to he harness.) The reason I ask that is the same process will be used either way, but it can be done more realisticly it the bridle is seperate.(if seperate conform only the harness)don't conform the bridle to the riendeer.(or if the bridle and harness are combined as a single unit). What you will do is first get the motion you want from your reindeers, then after your satisfied with their movement. Next place your bridle (and harness if attached) so it fits to your reindeer but again don't conform, use Break Spline after good placement. Next go to your reindeers next extream motion. Again line up the reindeers bridle to the reinedeer and santas hands, use Break Spline again. From here it's possible that you will have to tweek some motion flaws between the first pose and the first extreme motion of the harness. This is repeated between each motion sequence. I suggest you keep the randeers motion with just a basic movement(no turning the body and such) I know you will have to do the same for each raindeer, but a way around that being complicated is, After you have your raindeers with the same motion, save each pose of your bridle between each extream motion(and any Tweeks)in your use your pose dots. From there you will just have to use each raindeers bridle and their pose dots. Sence the raindeer are using the same poses. the bridle should line up much easier by just move the bridle left right front or back where ever the raindeer are in relation to the bridle and line up. I know this seams like a lot of work but I use this in situations when I have to and there are no other answers. A MORPHING BRIDLE WOULD BE MUCH EASIER!

Thanks 4dogday... I've a reindeer running in place (next i put it running in the sky exporting into another program). The harness and the brudle are two different object, and the bridles are formed from many pieces. So i had thought to a solution as that one yours... but is rather laborious. I thought that there was a faster method using the IK Chain or the Point to... but i can't find it. So if no other has some other solution, must begin to work on the possible one. Thanks. xman

If the bridle is not connected to the harness, then it should not be that difficult, just conform the harness to the reindeer and the rest as I said should not be that bad the IK chain use for Santas hands then adjust the bridle at the other end. Unless the bridle is wrapped around the reindeers face, unwhich use IK chain it to the raindeer. This porcess is slower to describe than it is to physicaly do. Little tricks like this get you by when all the other availabe remidies don't work.
