Subject: I want to be the next vue moderator

bonnyclump ( ) posted Mon, 01 November 2004 at 2:52 PM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 8:35 PM

I think I can do a better job than agiel as a moderator for the vue forums. I will allow freedom of expression on these forums without punishment. I will not pick on anyone if I don't agree with their view but I will take time to understand exactly what they mean before I pass judgement. I can agree to disagree and let the water pass under the bridge. I believe these forums should help eon know what their customers like and don't like. This way eon would have a true perspective of how people are relating to their software. "Nothing can grow without rain." Roger Waters

RIght... you mentioned games in an earlier post. I'm a member of a game site that has basicly no moderation. It's crap... totally useless to anyone who wants info about the game. It's filled with yelling, flaming... It's easy to hurt feelings irl, more so in typed form. Our moderators are doing a fine job and I believe 99% of the people here would agree. So, I think you're out voted. Take a breath. I've been here for years off and on and I've never had a problem with the mods. I've asked questions, they've been answered. Think you need to learn to read what you type before you push submit. You come across very abrasive. Perhaps you don't realize just how much.

SAMS3D ( ) posted Mon, 01 November 2004 at 4:37 PM

I agree with Ms Outlaw, I never had a problem with any of the moderators here, they have been fair and understanding and go out of their way to clear the clogged road. bonnyclump (isn't that the name of one of the plants from e-on), anyway, no offense given, but I know to be a moderator here, you need to be REAL knowledgeable in E-on's software, I mean real knowledgable, you need to have a calm tone to help the spastic user like me, and need to have kindness in your heart. If you have those qualities, you can give it a shot. But like I said above the mods who have taken on this huge job, have all, now and in the past, been the very BEST! Sharen

Bravo to Agiel!!!! Job well done :)

I think Agiel is doing a great job. I don't work for Vue either- people just know me as a fanatic and sometimes REAL pain-in-the-ass, but I always try, in my own way, to contribute something POSITIVE to what I see going on. Being endlessly NEGATIVE about everything is not a good lifestyle. Agiel does an amazing job considering how difficult a mod's job can be- and I would like to see the Vue Forum be a place where people can be EXCITED about what they are working on- and get technical help when they need it. And--I would NEVER want to be a Forum Mod!

It's highly unlikely you have been picked on, mods don't have the time, the energy, or the will to single one person out of many thousand, just to make your life difficult I can assure you. These forums are not there to inform ANY of the software companies about the use of their products, and 'how we feel about them', they are for the members of this site to share tips, experiences, advice, issues etc. If you have a problem with E-On software, I suggest you contact them directly, since they are the only ones qualified to help you in that regard. I understand frustration with software companies, especially if you have invested so heavily, but continually making negative comments in any of the forums here, will not only alienate you from the majority who are happy with their software, cutting you off from a vital and useful supply of knowledge and experience, but ultimately, you could get banned for 'trolling'. Consider the consequences, or usefulness of your opinions to the rest of the community before you post in future. Adam (aka kromekat) Cinema 4D Forum Mod

Uhm... pardon my ignorance... but what do images in his/her gallery have to do with anything? Message edited on: 11/01/2004 20:04

This a site for artists. If bonnyclump desires to be a mod, shouldn't he/she have evidence of his/her artistry?

For example, in the Bryce forum, would you really want a mod that could only do shiny spheres over water?

I see your point. However, I thought a mod's job here was primarily to keep order in the forum and make sure the TOS isn't violated, etc. I rarely ever see any technical questions in any of these forums directed specifically at a mod, usually it's posted to anyone who uses the program and frequents the forum. If a mod is proficient with the app in question, then that's a plus, but I don't see why it should be a requirement that needs to be openly provided to any of us here. Some people have good reasons not to post their works here, yet participation in the forums is an entirely different matter. Also, I know of at least one forum mod on this site who has NO gallery, yet he does a good job moderating the forum, and clearly knows what he's talking about. (Not saying Agiel isn't a good mod... just making a point).

What a thankless task a moderator has don't they? And with no pay.

Anyway Bonnyclump has made at least one really cool image I know of see: this thread.
What I'm more interested in seeing is where all their complaints to e-on tech support threads are. There is no point going on and on about bugs in user forums, here or in the e-on registered user forum, if you never actually report them to tech support is there?

We are very happy with the mod we have in place at this time. Thanks for your offer. But, on that note, please remember that when we do pick mods, we pick from members that have shown leadership and offer help to the fellow members. Thanks Spike Modfather

Isn't this a little tiring Bonnyclump? We have seen your point and we are not as stupid that it needs to be hammered into our heads every day 5 times. Thanks for your issue (some months ago). We understood and want to go on now. Together with our excellent mod Agiel.

Bunnyclump, don't feel you offended, but if you had to become moderator i think that the forum will lose its ability to generate solutions for small and big problems of vue users...

war2 ( ) posted Tue, 02 November 2004 at 6:36 AM

mm relax and take it easy, i enjoy the vue forum as it is, friendly for most of the time and a place for answers and questions and sometimes just plain generic info. vue has shortcomings which we all know, just as any app out there, but any requests should realy be pointed towards e.ons own forums/support service, and they do listen, even tho everything doesnt end up being corrected or implemented. and as far as agiel goes i think hes making as good of a work as he should/could, being a moderator is timeconsuming and unapreciated @ best (im a moderator myself @ a fairly big design/developer community), so just take it easy and think through your posts before submitting them, im sure youll notice that your posts wont be locked down.

I don't know why we should change mods again. Though I'm not commenting very often I follow this forum very regularly and IMHO opinion agiel is doing very fine. I also have the feeling that it's a very small minority of one or two people who are complaining about agiel being the mod of this forum.

So why raising this topic over and over again. Agiel is doing a great job - no changes needed. Sorry, bonnyclump. ;)

I believe that this is more a matter of "I wanna be able to slam whatever/whoever I wanna -- and with no backtalk!!!!"

Agiel is doing a sterling job.

We are very happy with the mod we have in place at this time.

I suspect that 99% of the Vue forum participants -- including lurkers -- share the feeling.

Agiel is doing a great job as moderator, so I see no need for change.

vlad69 ( ) posted Tue, 02 November 2004 at 4:44 PM

I think that the job of a moderator is to make the forum friendly as posible keeping personal attacks aside and helping to others for free. If we have a moderator that will let that anything happens until it is noticed its a bad thing, then the forum will become unfriendly. To me agiel is a good moderator keeping things the way they should be. -Vlad

petshoo ( ) posted Wed, 03 November 2004 at 2:24 AM

I agree on all the above. Agiel is doint first class job!

Rids ( ) posted Wed, 03 November 2004 at 12:17 PM

The Renderosity admins set the TOS and its the job of the moderators to enforce it in as friendly and patient a manner as possible. After reading the TOS and some of the posts I think Agiel is doing just that. The forum is not a place for freedom of speech unless the Admins decide to change the TOS and frankly I can't see that happening, nor do I want them to. Its also not a requirement that the moderator be the premium expert on the forum topic, the provision of informed answers to any technical questions posed is that of the members and nobody else. My personal opinion is that the forum is well run and a change of moderator is neither needed or wanted by the vast majority of the members - EOS! ;-)

sandoppe ( ) posted Sun, 07 November 2004 at 9:31 PM

I didn't even know you changed Mods!! :) But then it's been awhile since I've been here. I'm sure Agiel does a fine job, as did your former mod (can't recall her name....I've a brain like a sieve for names!) Anyway....it's a thankless job no matter who does it, requiring a consitution of iron and very thick skin. Bonnyclump, I would be glad if I were you that you don't have the job. It's much more fun to visit the forums, ask questions, grumble from time to time and render :)

Agiel is the best!!!
