Whats the concensus out there regarding the amount of additional ram for decreasing rendering time? I have 512mb now which is fine for "painter" but have just acquired my first Bryce 5.I do my post work in painter and adobe photo shop for cloning and adding 2d images which work faster than importing them to Bryce.I was thinking of adding another 512mb if even it would make a small diff. (Emachine,2.1 gig processor 512mb of ddr). Thanx Dave

Extra memory capacity is always a good thing Dave. Unfortunately the speed of rendering in Bryce is almost totally dependant on your processor speed. Hopefully DAZ's talks with NVIDIA will result in a much faster renderer, maybe even one with hardware acceleration.

Yeah,.........memory will help with building the scene file but as far as rendering, danamo is right. Now, if I could only remember where I put my cigarettes,.......Uhhhh,...what was the quetion ?

Hmmmm, sometimes I have Painter 8 and Bryce 5 at the same time running, no problems here with 512MB of ram...

I have 512MB of RAM and I find myself with PhotoShop, Wings, Bryce, and Renderosity all open at the same time with practically no slow-down. I would love a faster processor and hard drive to back it up but that's the price I pay for having a laptop.

As others said - with more memory you'll be able to open bigger, longer, uncut... err, where was I? Yeah, bigger scenes and files in general.
