Subject: Took the Plunge

I finally decided that I couldn't wait for Pro to lay my hands on Vue 5, so I just went ahead and ordered it. I'm aware I'll have wasted 100 bucks when Pro comes out - but I couldn't resist :->>

did you realise there is a demo released? It is fully functional for 60 days - by then the Pro version should be out!

Rids ( ) posted Thu, 04 November 2004 at 4:59 PM

from what I gather its not fully functional, its limited to 640x480 and most of the textures and plants are disabled (so I've been told by someone who's trying it now)

Congrats petshoo, I did the same thing LOL. VuePro5 will be my Xmas present this year :).

I'm sure not sorry I got Vue5 - I'm enjoying every minute of it. AND, I'll be anxiously awaiting the arrival of VuePro5. When this is what you enjoy doing in life, you just have to follow your bliss

I got the demo the other day. I'm trying to resist buying 5 but am weakening by the moment. The demo is limited, but you can use the free hdr's import stuff from your vue 4 etc. But of course you don't want to work too hard on stuff, since you can't save. Still, it's soooo nice. I'm hooked.

If you are a hobby-user- waiting is not a bad idea. But if you have commercial applications for Vue 5- then $100 is not really a loss. In particular, the HDRI feature of Vue 5 is so INCREDIBLY USEFUL to me RIGHT NOW, that waiting is NOT an option. I am totally THRILLED with the stuff I'm getting right now! Besides- Vue 5 Pro could always be DELAYED. There is no definate release date. It could even be early next year...

What's the difference between sidegrade and upgrade? (besides price?) I have vue 4 pro, can I sidegrade and still up or side grade to pro if I decided I need it?

war2 ( ) posted Fri, 05 November 2004 at 1:28 AM

yep you can. side grade is going from one product line to another: ie: vue4pro to vue5 esprit is a sidegrapde, or going from c4 to vue5pro is also a sidegrade upgrade is upgrading your product line: ie: vue4pro to vue5pro is upgrading. but in reality who cares what its called realy, its still e.on products, and yes, youll be able to go from vue5 to vue5 pro with a discount as compared to buying vue5 pro as a brand new user (dont know anything about the pricing)

Thanks War.

Yes, true. All of us here who have Vue4Pro, do want Vue5Pro but have gotten the sidegrade to Vue5 in the meantime, will have an interesting choice to make when Vue5Pro comes out. Which will be cheaper? (1) Vue5 to Vue5pro upgrade or, (2) Vue4Pro to Vue5Pro upgrade. My guess is they'll be the same price. Norm

Hey, I just had a thought: We're all loyal E-on types, right? I mean, who could be more loyal than someone who's buying upgrades to both versions? So, maybe there'll be another choice: "super" upgrade, where if you have Vue4Pro and Vue5, you get a better deal on Vue5Pro.... Well, it's fun to think about anyway, on a light Saturday night. :) Norm

petshoo ( ) posted Sun, 07 November 2004 at 8:06 AM

Not sure what the upgrade pricing will be like, but I'm setting my expectation that the money I shelled out for Esprit will be lost when I upgrade to Pro. That's why I was holding back until Pro is out. But I couldn't resist, and now I regret I didn't order earlier. LOL! I'm exepcting my copy next monday. Can't wait!

I finally decided whatever is in 5pro I can wait for. But can't wait for 5 now ~s~

kristinf ( ) posted Mon, 15 November 2004 at 11:57 AM

It's probably a daft question... I have Vue4Pro and have been waiting for Vue5Pro. When it comes out will I be able to use my Vue4Pro on one machine and Vue5Pro on another? Sorry to creep off topic...
