Subject: walk backwards?

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone knows how to make a character walk backwards? I did a search in the forum and found an entry on it from a couple of years ago, but there was no definitive answer. But, from what I could gather, it seems that there's a way to resequence the keyframes to make just about any character do anything backwards. So, does anyone know how to do it? Thanks, john...

The meat in an animation pose file is the "k" lines each k line consists of two numbers, the first number is the frame number and the second number is the paramiter value (essentialy the number that appears on the dial).

Now this is from memory, but I think it is sufficent to transpose all the frame numbers. In a 30 frame annimation pose, the first frame will be "k 0" and the last frame "k 29", so (in a text editor) change the "k 0" line in each channel to "k 29", change the "k 1" line to "k 28", the "k 2" to "k 27", etc.

From memory its not necessary to change the actual order in which the franes occur in the file, changing the frame numbers is sufficent.

As to the best way to impliment the actual work of transposing the frame numbers (quite a lot of work), a search and replace utility might help, but I haven't explored that option. It may be that a Python script could automate the process for Poser 5 and PP users.

---*---

Another method might be to save a static pose for each frame, then start a new animation, apply the last static pose to the first frame, advance the frame, apply the second last static pose to the second frame, etc. Message edited on: 11/05/2004 17:06

Why not just make the animation with you figure walking forward. Then save the animation as pic insted of avi all you have to do now is re name the pic and maby use animation shop ore somthing like it to make your clip and your figure will walk backwards :)...!

Could this be done with python or some other script?
