File version, really. The P5 material settings will sometimes translate well, but other times won't -- simply because there is no compatible correlation between the two systems. As for making it work -- change the version numbers to 4.0 and you're good to go. Can't say you'll be able to get the same look, but beyond that it should work well.
thou and I, my friend, can, in the most flunkey world, make, each of us, one non-flunkey, one hero, if we like: that will be two heroes to begin with. (Carlyle)
When you open a p5 file in p4, poser will tell you it's a newer file version, then open it anyway. If you save it as a cr2 within p4, you won't get that message again. To avoid the message anyway, do as ynsaen says and change the version number (1st line in the cr2) to 4.01. After you've saved in p4, you'll notice in cr2Editor that all the p5 materials have been cut out. P4 doesn't understand them, so it can't save them. Also, there are a few other lines, like smooth polys and what-not, but it's mainly the material nodes. mac

I recently downloaded a new free model (F202 I think, a Japanese toon girl) but its set up for Poser 5. As I understand it, the difference will be in the materials set up, is it possible to use CR2 Editor (the free one, not CR2 Edit) to modify the CR2 to work in P4? If so, what do I need to change/delete? Thinking about it, can MAT Pose Edit be used? Thanks for any thoughts, Neill (philebus)
