Hi- Another thought- I think you should offer the Venice waterway scene for sale. I know I really like it! My other current interest, reguarding cars, is for the "HDRI Photo Studio" concept I have talked about. In particular I would like to see a scene, sort of like the DAZ Cyclorama- but with some more 3D elements in it- -which would be like a classic old Italian street- where you could place a little cafe, a Vespa scooter, things like that (I have those props already) and which I could also place a car prop, like my new Ferrari 612. So the basic scene could be used by anyone who wanted to have a street scene backdrop for a cafe, little hotel, restaurant, shop, or whatever (they could add their own props- or you could offer them too). Mainly the roadway would be brick or stone in the old style, and the buildings would look clean, but old style (maybe some brick or stone showing through, etc.)... I know I would really like a classic scene like this and I think other s would also.
I think you have earned your way to making some items for sale. It's hard to think anyone would be upset. I am not sure how my comments can help you but if it does, here I go: I hate to suggest prices to anyone because I don't know all the work that is involved. But, in my opinion, if you have a very solid product (one that does not need a lot of support and email because it is explained well and works well), then I would suggest a nice low price. The way I see it, selling a lot of items for a low price is about the same as selling some items at a high price. Two things to consider in pricing (in my opinion): (1) If the price is high it might be more likely that the item will not sell as much and more likely it will turn up on P2P (warez) sites so people can just steal it and (2) Selling a lot of items for a small price does 2 things (a) gets your product to a lot of people (who then make renders for other people to see and if THOSE people like it, they will want to know where to buy it...like advertising and (b) selling a lot of items may increase the email you receive asking for help or support. One example of a person who makes quality stuff at a usual price of $5 is Baron Vlad Harkonen (spelling?) and he sells quite a quantity of them. I'm not a merchant, so maybe what I have said is just stupid. I LOVE buildings and structures. As I've said elsewhere, a person can only have so many pieces of clothing (for V3...LOL) and so many spears. What is needed is structures from the past, present, and future. We need scenery (for V3...LOL) not just spears. Your talent in this area is very good and you should be able to do well. As to my tastes? I buy anything Stonemason makes. He uses high-res textures and has stuff is great. Moe is also an awesome modeler (very detailed). Liteluver (spelling?) makes some great medieval structures (I've bought all of them). Same for Ironheart (who recently died). So, take a look at some of their stuff to get an idea of pricing. Hope my comments help. And good luck to you!
