Subject: transparent backgrounds

Hi, does anyone know if there is a way to export a poser animation with a transparent background. I want to take them into flash and have tried turning them into animated gifs and making the background transparent at that point but they end up with a white outline.

If you go to the 'Make Movie' window under Animation, you'll see an option 'Sequence Type'. Choose 'Image Files' then choose the file type as either png or tif and save. I suppose you could somehow import those pictures into flash after all thats done. =o

I too am trying to do that and have met with success. You were on the right track before. Make movie, next to sequence type choose image files and click OK. Then name your file, at bottom of that popup, choose .tif and then click Save. Remember to create a new folder because this will save as many files as you have frames in your animation. Thats it. To check it, go into Photoshop, open up any of the files in that folder and go to your channels. It will show a black field with white area for your poser. That is what you need. When you bring it into a video editing package like Premiere you can drop out whatever is black in your alpha channel. Whatever is white will allow the poser person to show.

Thanks that's interesting, but sounds a bit complicated, I wonder do you import a series of image files into Premier and that makes the movie? I gave up trying to get Poser to export a swf the quality versus file size was not worth it. Now I have gotten around the white outline problem with the animated gifs by making the background in poser similar to my flash movie and making that the transparent colour. Now I have a problem with the legs of my wolf leaving trails in the flash movie but that must be a different forum.

Not really complicated, I just went step by step. When you import a file into Premiere, there is a check box called numbered stills. Just check that and it brings all of the stills in as a single movie.
