Subject: Production Frame in C4

sailor_ed ( ) posted Sat, 13 November 2004 at 5:40 PM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 11:50 AM

The good news: got my copy of CP4! The bad news: can't figure how to get the poduction frame to show. Camera is at 100%. "Show frame" is checked. Any suggestions? First impressions: some nice new options but maybe the best is the Amapi7. Finally a version that works!! (on my system) Very nice. Thanks in advance for the help. Ed

Mine shows. . . (PC) Are you looking through the render camera?

Letterworks ( ) posted Sat, 13 November 2004 at 5:54 PM

Min works fine too but you do have to be looking thru camera 1. The scale your looking from greatly depends on the size fo the production frame. mike

Thanks for the replies. If I start an empty scene the production frame shows. If I start a document using the "Scene Wizard" and choose the "Autumn" lighting preset the frame won't show. Go figger!

I've had problems with Autumn, too, and told Eovia about it. For starters, the Production Frame won't display for cameras that are not shown in 3D view. Putting a check in the "Show Object in 3D View" box for Camera 1's object view properties will allow you to view its Production Frame.

Bravo! Thanks for the solution. It always happens when I play with a new program that something wierd happens.

MarkBremmer ( ) posted Mon, 15 November 2004 at 6:35 AM

Actually, this has been a "feature" of hiding/showing the Camera you are viewing through for several versions. The camera in Autumn scene has simply been set up to be hidden - which should probably be changed!

I can see the purpose of hiding the camera but hiding the production frame eludes me.

I don't quite see the need to hide the camera, except for occasionally. I often grab it and drag it into place, or when I try the motion path, (which works MUCH better in C4 by the way! :D ) I can't see anyway to adjust it if it's hidden!

MarkBremmer ( ) posted Tue, 16 November 2004 at 9:38 AM

I'll usually hide the camera when it just in front of one of the side, front or top cameras and obscuring their view. Yes, I did an embarassing little dance in my studio when motion paths started working! ;)

I'd post my little flythrough I created flying over a landscape... with GI... and bump maps... and high quality settings... and it's about 10 seconds long @ 30fps... oh well.. C says that the render would take 84 hours... so... ;)

Well dang, I've done everything suggested & I can't get a production frame to show in even the most simple scene. I'm in Camera 1, show camera in 3d view is checked. When I go to Show Production Frame I get the safe area dialog, click OK and get nada. Also the Show Production Frame menu item is not checked (and I don't know if it should be or not). Any other suggestions? Carrara Pro 4.1.1, Mac OSX 10.3.8, 800 Mhz 17" iMac...

Hi Carrie, Make sure that this is the one that's checked. :D Mark

Oh my, that was it... I was just going to Production Frame above... that's what I get for working late ;-) Thanks so much Mark for your help -- and for your kind and thorough answer to a pretty dumb question... CJ

MarkBremmer ( ) posted Wed, 09 March 2005 at 1:13 PM

If you only knew how many dumb question I ask myself about my own software at 1 in the morning... :D

If a camera is not shown (hidden) in the 3D view, you won't be able to view its production frame.
