Subject: New Daz interface is saving me a lot of money because i can't find anything

I have to thank Daz for helping me save money this close to Christams. The new interface is so confusing i can't find anything. Renderosity figured out that frequent shoppers want the "What New" sector to be really accessable. Making a stew of the Platinum Club and Premier items is a godsend this close to Christmas. Since the site is so difficult to navigate I'll save a lot of money. Maybe shoppers will spend more at Renderosity. cheerio lululee

I agree - they've screwed up the store big time

LOL, I second that! I thought it was just me being me again. :-)

My idea of rebooting is kicking somebody in the butt twice!

Not only that but when I went to check out an item shown on the email news letter, and download the trial version, I received 404, not once but on most of the items I tried. Seems like they put the site up before all of the links were finished. mike

It's improved already. For Platinum Club items, there's a check-box in a thin green bar over the main listing, when you've selected a category. There's a whole set of settings there, including the number of items on a page. Unless something went adrift last weekend, when I was looking for some stuff, there's some older items been added to the list. for the older Vicky and Mike figures. It was full price then (and I decided not to buy).

I clicked on the link for David in the ad they sent out for the sale and wound up on a page saying I now had a platinum membership until October 20th. I guess some of the old stuff is still up and it will take some time for them to work out all the bugs.

They have now added 3 links for "What's New". What's New Daz Originals What's New Daz Published What's New Daz Platinum That is a big help. So much for saving money. cheerio lululee

They should've stuck to the old adage - if it ain't broke, don't fix it - the old version worked perfectly fine for me.

I think it's working well, once you get used to it. Been downloading stuff for the last couple of days, no problems so far..... looks round for the nearest wooden item to touch. Jack

I was just over there and agree. I'll be saving money too. Thanks Daz! Alot of the stuff doesn't have file size listed or texmap downloads. Two things I like to know before purchase.

There's a lot of things I like about the new DAZ store. But there's a lot that's confusing and annoying, too. Those huge banners get old fast. And the bigger thumbnails mean I can only see 3-6 items at a time. I pity anyone who's on dial-up.

Some things I imagine will be fixed. Right now, a lot of things are screwy. The search function doesn't find everything it used to. Some of the store items are mixed up, in the wrong section of the store, or listed at the wrong price. Wonder how long it will take for them to get everything ironed out?

randym77 You can change the amount of items per page, list order ect, by setting the options tabs on the pop down menu across the top of the store page. Does not get rid of that annoying "best seller" ads on the side though. My dialup is actually doing quite well with the new setup, but I just cann't find the things I want. And when I do there is a lack of info I want.

I keep getting 403 access forbidden when I try to download!!!

randym77 ( ) posted Sun, 14 November 2004 at 5:22 PM

I know you can change the number of items per page, but the thumbnails remain humongous. You can't see more than one or two rows at a time. And each row only holds three items, thanks to the huge thumbnails and the new adspace. I like being able to see a lot of items without wearing out my mouse wheel with constant scrolling. :-P

I find it funny because way back when Rendo decided to make the thumbnails smaller in the store here, people were really upset about this and were telling them to make them bigger to get a better view of what the products look like. The thumbnails at Daz were on the small side, they've decided to make them a little bigger so people would have a better idea of the product but over there, the thumbnails are too big... They are still actually a lot smaller at Daz then they are here... I also find the big banner annoying but I heard there will be the possibility to get rid of it when you're logged in in your preference, it just hasn't been implemented yet. My first reaction to it was of dislike and confusion, but I don't like change all that much, I'm getting used to it now and manage to find my way around, in a few weeks maybe I'll be able to say I love it! ;)

Personally I like the new site... BUT they REALLY need to fix all the dead links. I wanted to look at a popup and got routed back to the main page... geesh. suffice it to say I won't be buying anything until they get it together. (Unless Aiko 3 comes out first. teehee. ^_^)
