Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
Hm, I'm a Mac user, but I'm sure there must be something like the "GraphicConverter" (for Mac) available for Windows - a shareware tool which can read many different graphic formats and convert them to the most common used ones on your platform. Win users, your help and knowledge is requested! :) - wal

Sorry I sent you the wrong url that was my business web site. LOL above is the correct address for ACDSEE it is the best viewer we have found so far.Well, first you have to figure out what it actually is, they you can rename it with the right extension. If it came from a Mac it it is probaly a JPG or a GIF or a EPS or a TIF, if it isn't a PCT. There used to be viewers like Compushow that would make a stab at tring to identifing a file from the first bunch of bytes, but I don't think anything does that anymore.
I just tried a few things with this file. I got out the Poser 4 content CD. There are two texture templates with the extension .pict. The jeans template is one. I copied the jeans template to my desktop. I renamed the extension to .pct and it will open with Quicktime image viewer. I copied it to the clipboard, and pasted it as a new image in MS Photo Editor, then saved it as a .jpg. I also just renamed the file to .bmp and .jpg, and it opened just fine for me in both cases. Some of the file extensions in Poser are odd. There are also some texture maps that have a .tiff extension instead of .tif, and won't open with an image viewer, but if you rename the file, the Cr2 that calls it won't find it, so the Cr2 needs to be edited or resaved to the library.
Hey Jim and wyrwulf. The program ACDSEE I told Tammy about will open any PC or MAC image file then all you have to do is "save image as" and convert it to jpg, tif, bmp, gif etc... it is not only a image viewer but a lot more. I personally use Adobe Photoshop for my finish work on Bryce & Poser images but when I run into a conflect such as Tammy did with the pict format I simply open it up in acdsee and convert it to the pc format I need. They also have a shareware version. I haven't found another image converter yet that would do this. It's just that simple. Cheers! -=Nomad=-
