Now that it's been bought out by Corel, we'll see how long it lasts....
PSP was always a great program.... I've been using it since version 4. Never had problems with it, and I've always recommended it to anyone looking for an excellent graphics program as an affordable alternative to PhotoShop....
I've been a loyal user and always upgraded when the newest version came out, even though I use Photoshop far more frequently..... I've got version 8 now.... but.... now that Corel has bought them out.... I won't be upgrading....
They've killed just about every program they lay their hands on with the exception of Painter...

Depends what OS you are using. Even PSP 8.1 would do funny things with XP with SP1. I tried the demo of 9 and the only bugs I found was in Browser viewing. Now that I reformatted with SP2,then reinstalled all programs...I have not had one problem. DO not try to install SP2 over SP1 however. All hell will break loose. There is not that many differences between the two of them to really upgrade. If Corel boosts the price then ruins it I would not be surprised.

I am the voice of dissent ! I installed PSP9 11th October onto my windows xp system (sp2). I have had no problems whatsoever during instal or use. It picked up an auto update on the first time of use to presumably fix a bug that had been found, but since then there have been no patches or updates. If you think it is worth the price of upgrading from 8 to 9 is another question which can only be answered by the individual. However I have to say I am more than happy with it.

Hi, I'm new and was just surfing around, putting off the download of psp9 for the evening, lolol. I hope to try it tomorrow, and am looking forward to the extra photo effects offered. I just got used to 8, after two years on 7, so I hope I don't hate it! I agree, I never had one problem with 7, but 8 is glitchy. I think I will load them separately again. Alas, now to have 3 of them! Geesh, it reminds me of the camera criteria! No matter what you have, the new one is so cool it makes you feel inferior! ha I really love the sharpen and soften brush in psp8. Fantastic answer to quick fixes without too much processing on the whole photo! I hope that doesn't change in 9. Anyone know? Thanks, and nice to meet the members! Linda
PSP9 does have retouch brushes for: sharpen, soften, along with others.

An FYI for Paint Shop Pro users. I loaded PSP 9 this week... used it today and it crashed on me three times... cost me about 45 minutes work. You might want to allow idiots like me to work the bugs out of it before upgrading.
