Subject: Introducing Shaders Plus, a new plug-in from DCG

Hi folks,

Today we introduce our newest plug-in Shaders Plus. One of the new things exposed in the Carrara 4 SDK to outside developers is Lighting Models. Carrara ships with 2 lighting models, Phong and Shadow Catcher. Shaders Plus adds 3 more, Anisotropic, Shadow Glow, and Flat.

Anisotropic helps simulate brushed metals, satin, and velvet. Shadow Glow suppresses the glow channel when the surface is illuminated. Flat ignores all illumination except Ambient and GI illumination.

Nice. I was just wondering today if someone was ever going to write an anisotropic shader for Carrara! If only I had C4... Note: in your tips and trick section you made a mistake you said "...need to use the Value (1-10000%) shader in..." when it should say "need to use the Scale (1-10000%) shader in..."

eovia renamed that shader for C4, it's now Value (1-10000%). See you do need to get C4!
