Looking for a template file for the Victoria (1 and/or 2) Bikini. I have this but dumb me forgot to download these (or was there one offered before for free like the others) and now DAZ doesn't have the links up for most of these.

Just looked on Steve's site (link above) and did not see a Download for UVMapper Classic - Win. Still has the MAC versions, but didn't see one for Windows anymore. (did I miss a memo?)

*"After six years, I've decided to retire UVMapper Classic for Windows.

"I've been distributing and supporting UVMapper Classic for six years now. I've really enjoyed the opportunity to correspond with people, literally all over the world, who are working to become proficient at everything from texture mapping to modeling to rendering, etc. But with the release of UVMapper Professional version 3 I feel that I need to change my focus to development and support of the new version. On the bright side, the demo version of UVMapper Professional for Windows does have the ability to import models and export texture map templates. I also have plans to update this feature to simplify the generation of texture maps for models that have more than one. Steve"*Message edited on: 11/18/2004 07:48

Well tried Uvmapper and the space I got work in was too small. I think I'll play around with it though since I just did real quick (you can increase the size of the area you want to work with in it right?)

lmckenzie ( ) posted Thu, 18 November 2004 at 8:03 AM

Now does that mean you can create new mappings with Classic, or only generate maps from models that already have UV coordinates?

Not sure what you mean by too small. I load the bikini top .obj, maximize the UVMapper window and the template fills the screen. When you save it (the template image) you can specify how big you want it to be as well. Yes, you can select by group, material or an arbitrary area and resize to suit your needs.

Not when I look at it. :( Sorry to butt in, but I have an interest in the outcome of this, and I wanted a bookmark...

Boy, I need new glasses!!! I could have sworn I saw the windows version. My mistake :( It was the demo of the Pro version.

Hmmm. There are some merchants here who's products require the old UVmapper to work. I'm thinking of Andygraph's excellent cyborg kits - this could seriously affect his business! Can the new demo version do the job Andygraph needs?

I know Steve plans to make an announcement on this, so I won't steal his thunder, but people who need UVS decoding won't be left in the cold for long. I tried to persuade him not to retire it, folks... Sorry... Some of my tutorials are now out the window as a result. :(

lmckenzie ( ) posted Thu, 18 November 2004 at 9:10 PM

I wonder what his feeling is about other places distributing Classic? I'm sure the site I found probably isn't the only one. Once things are on the 'net, they tend to take on a life of their own. The announcement sounded like he mainly didn't want to continue supporting it. At any rate, I'm going to delete the link I posted above. Anyone who wants to can find it easily enough :-)

The 'about' box is specific about redistribution, although Steve may have given permission in the past. Just for the record, I asked for permission to host a copy but was turned down, so it isn't just about bandwidth.

Thanks for the info. I don't know whether he ever gave permission to that site or not. At any rate, I remember the name sort of, if he wants to get after them. Like I said, I imagine their are a lot of them though--it is/was a hugely popular program.
