Subject: I need to make a room lit by firelight

My current project is to have a scene where a room is lit by the flickering light from a fireplace. Any suggestions on how to go about this? I have two spotlights pointing out from the fireplace, both with a yellow tint and wide angle, and I change their intensity randomly every second. It's not quite giving me the effect I'm going for. Is it possible to map a movie to a light in Poser, as I have a clip of flames that I could use. Any suggestions would be appreciated, Ulysses

Interesting question... If you could send me the loop, I'll bet I could take the average color of each frame and use that sequence of colors to drive the spotlights with Python. That would reproduce the "rhythm" of the flicker more accurately than one randomization per second.

RomanceWorks has the altimate fire (Flame) props, well that I know of. Does the job. Oh..and if you do get it. Read the instructions..step by step, for your first try, then it will come to use at ease. Look at one of my Pics done by one of his props. Candle...my first try. And can get it to animate. :-) http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=715449&Start=1&Artist=Robo2010&ByArtist=Yes

Assuming you've got poser 5, you can attach an avi file to animate the lights. I've done it for a whirling vortex effect and it worked nicely.

You can see the effect on the body of the figure in this still from the animation....
