Subject: Win XP SP2 and Vue 4.5 pro finally works!

Recently I had to wipe my windows from my system as I had quite a few problems with Internet Explorer and a few other niggles I couldnt quite put my fingers on. I reinstalled Windows XP Pro, proceded to update everything I could and was prompted to update to ServicePack 2. I was a little wary, only having heard bad things, but thoughtwhat the heck` and installed it.

Once I got over the fact that, when browsing, it kept blocking almost everything, and I adjusted to suit my system (antivirus and firewall), it appears to be running sweet. So sweet in fact that I can now run Vue 4.5 pro with NO PROBLEMS, opengl on and everything, and have not even updated Vue 4.5 pro yet. Previously I had it crashing every couple of minutes. I thought I would go one further and installed Vue 4, which again, I could never use opengl in. Guess what? It works great too. Vue 5 I never had a problem with anyway.

Dunno if this is just a coincidence, but service pack 2 really seems to have gelled my system together, and before you ask, no I don`t work for Microsoft...lol

Just thought Id say something positive in favor of the bigM` for once.

Some problems appeared on me because of my graphics card. My Vue 4 doesn't work properely with my GeForce mx400 - I found its because of its driver. But Vue 4 Pro is working without any problem, I never try Vue 4 with my new GeForce fx5200. I'm currently using Windows XP Pro with Sp1 & Sp2. I don't have any problems with Vue 4 Pro now. But I cannot import a tree object I exported on Cinema 4D 8.2. I exported it as a 3ds object but Vue 4 pro can't import it (crashed).

its a great improvement, sure bugs are still present as with any os/software but sp 2 is an essential upgrade to win xp.

most problems comes as you noticed from the built in firewall and the other new security improvements and the faqt that most ppl dont know what they are doing.

anyway im glad its working fine for you :) just wanted you to know that you arent the only one using sp2 without any problems :)
