Hi there... I'm a Bryce User, and I've seen some of the Vue d'Esprit work and it's very nice... I downloaded the demo and it gave me a good idea of the program... I live in the USA... does anybody know where is the cheapest place in the USA to buy the program??? It's a bit steep buying it directly from the software people... any info appreciated.. Thanks...

Hi Travidoro! We're glad to see that you enjoy the Vu work you've seen. :) Unfortunately, I don't think that you can buy Vue anywhere other than from e-on, http://www.e-onsoftware.com for now at least, but I might be wrong. Even so, when you consider the functionality of the program, and it's ray tracing engine, and the ease with which it imports particularly Poser "people", not to mention other 3D model formats, it's reasonably priced, I think. You might wasnt to email them at e-on directly and ask them though if they use any retailers, but I suspect that a retailer might even want more, if there are any at all. Generally, you'll find the lower prices on almost anything when you can go directly to the distributor and leave out a retailer. I hope you decide just to get it through them, though. I know this isn't what you were wanting to hear, but it's the best I can do for now. Cheers, Mike

well, it explains why nobody carries this.. :) But what happens with a lot retailers, the company sells the product for a much lower price than you would expect... Then, the re-seller, will sell it at a small profit, hoping to get a lot of sales to make up the deficit... But being that Vue is a European program, here in America retailers are probably not aware of its existence... But thanks for the info anyway... :) Now I just gotta dig up the bucks..

Howdy, You can save a few bucks by shopping at DVDirect.com. They had it for $176 (we sell it at the regular price of $189). Retail is becoming aware of the existence of Vue. You'll probably see some Vue-boxes showing up in stores over the next several weeks. Euro-software doesn't always have it easy in the US, however 3D is an unusual niche -- Cinema 4D is from Germany, Amapi and Artlantis are from France. Actually, Mike, a lot of software is more expensive when you buy direct--look at rhino, $800 bucks from mcneel but $500 from one or two e-tailers. Tradivoro, I agree with Mike that Vue is worth the money but of course it's not always a matter of "worth it" -- for a lot of us it's simply a matter of how much money we actually have to spend! But for what it's worth, I was struggling along in bryce 4 for a while, and while I still like some things about bryce (I prefer the hard-edged render look, actually) I've made much more rapid progress in Vue, so I'm happy I made the investment. I bought it direct from e-on before they had the US tollfree number and it took more than 2 weeks (when europe says "holiday" they mean it! Don't order from france in august! :) ) but even so it was worth the wait and sometimes you save a little on it because of the exchange rate. (a very little, like 10 bucks) MaryCanary
